I hope he can generate offense like Leetch but has a much better defensive game. I know Leetch is a HOFer but I always thought he was poor in his own end.

Friday night after round 1 will make for interesting debate. We will see what is left and narrow it down to a few names. I'm in for another D-man, I like the Nashville model of a good top 4 and some young ones in the pipeline.

The Knights got deep into the playoffs on effort (hey Ted Nolan), aggressive forechecking (not Alamo) and superb goaltending (except SCF). A lot of it seemed a will over skill mentality. That comes from the coaching and leadership.

Top D-men get more ice time than forwards. That is an appeal for some. Crosby may play 20 minutes while Doughty gets between 25 and 30. At the minor/youth level though, they probably roll 3 lines and 6 D until there is a need for a goal or a special teams situation. This is more for AAA, AA and A teams. Some kids want to play a certain position due to a favourite player. Mastering backwards skating at a young age is often a big factor.

and the smell... Bogo could be useful but the annual lost time plus that contract are too much.

I wish Bogo would fail a physical and go LTIR. The Leafs have buried a few bad contracts that way. I'd keep Gus over Larry. Skates better and has some offensive ability.

I like the Jets and I hope they end Vegas' Cinderella season. The Jets winning would also put another dagger into the Leafs hype here in Canada. They are a good story about an organization drafting well and patiently developing the talent. The Stastny deadline deal helped as well. I don't care as much about the East, OV in the finals would be a better storyline.

Perreault, Martin, Lafontaine and Hawerchuk. Current favourite is Reinhart but Dahlin may supplant him. Didn't like Andrew Peters, never seemed to win a fight.

I have not heard that he is projected to be the next Bobby Orr because that would make him #1 in all of those drafts. If he is next in line for great Swedish D, ( Lidstrom, Karlsson, Hedman ) that is very, very solid. I would place him ahead of Ekblad and think he will be better. I would take him behind McDavid, Jack and Auston because of the 200 foot game they need to play. They still have much room to grow in that regard and they could drop due to defensive deficiencies. I take him ahead of Laine because he can contribute 60 points and play 30 minutes a night while limiting chances for guys like Laine.
