  1. Would you allow his dad to sit in on the interview?
  2. If this is like some private equity firms out there, they invest in companies just to bleed them dry. Money now is worth much more than money gained in a sale at some nebulous date in the future. They’ll leverage them up to pad their wallets then dump them out. This is basically what happened to Toys R Us, Fantasy Island, Albertsons, and many more. Of course, maybe not all of them are evil, but they won’t be investing in the Sabres to have a seat at the hockey decision table. They won’t care. I agree with the gambling side. That revenue may be the only reason for their investment, not capital gains on a future sale.
  3. Who’s the number 1 center in this draft? Seems like there’s some very good players, but I’m not seeing them being much different than what we already have. Maybe Wright, but he’s been underwhelming.
  4. You are looking at an AD slippage. However, the big difference here is this is the sacral vertebrae. This patient may have been feeling some leg numbness, maybe incontinence. A disc slippage in the c-spine would be much more serious, if not catastrophic.
  5. Taking a play out of the Sabres playbook. He’ll have his surgery, but then will slip into the “month-to-month” regime.
  6. Not only haven’t we seen the peak of Mitts or Tage, we haven’t even seen Mitts period. Guy has been MIA. Both our acting 1C (Tage) and the person who was supposed to be our 1C/2C (Mitts) have missed significant time due to injury. It’s not just Covid screwing our season, it’s never ending injuries. Then we have one of our top 6 wingers acting like he probably shouldn’t be playing due to injury.
  7. The night is young.
  8. Me neither. Anyone know if he’s just like a better Reinhart?
  9. You have a point. There’s a guy in this coming draft lacking generational talent, but who is the consensus top pick. But next year, they’ll be 2 generational talents. Next year is the true prize. I think I’ve heard this story before.
  10. I don’t think we are looking at just “bad luck” with this string of goalie injuries. I can’t imagine these are all just freak accidents, but rather indicative of something more systemic. Why can’t our goalies stay healthy? Is it a training or strength coach issue? Are teams more likely to target our goalies? All I can say is Thank God we didn’t sign Ulmark or someone with a similar price tag. They’d be injury report fixtures by now.
  11. Let’s hope Murray dishes out some love.
  12. Tail?
  13. Can someone give it to Mitts so he can get it out of the way?
  14. To me, it just looks like he doesn’t value goalies as much as skaters when formulating his rankings of prospects.
  15. Give him a 1-yr qualifying offer. If he continues to improve more, show him the money mid-season. If he doesn’t take it, trade him at the deadline.
  16. Can you imagine the poor kid who killed him? I would probably quit hockey. No way it’s going to be the same for him.
  17. It’s amazing seeing a defenseman with those moves. Geez.
  18. The rapid antigen test targets the nucleocapsid, not the forever mutating spike protein. That said, the delta variant did pick up 2 mutations in the nucleocapsid protein, which was passed down to the omicron. So, the sensitivity of the antigen test is no different than the delta. However, the nucleocapsid antigen doesn’t persist as long as the viral RNA detected by PCR.
  19. The good news is Covid is going to run out of players to infect soon. Our season will be over before immunity wanes and we start all over again.
  20. Sorry, should’ve been more clear. Savoie’s sh% is elevated because he’s getting most of his points on the PP. 9% is more sustainable because it’s at least the NHL average and I don’t think there’s a linear relationship between amateur hockey and the NHL.
  21. Really? One is sustainable and the other one isn’t.
  22. One of my friends watched it. Said she lost brain cells watching it and wanted her 2 hours back.
  23. Agreed. I just think it’s shortsighted not to draft a potentially elite winger or RHD in order to draft a center with a 2C ceiling (or even a poor man’s 1C ceiling) just because we haven’t drafted many C’s in the last few drafts. That’s how bad teams stay bad.
  24. We have been a bottom dweller for many years, so have needs everywhere. If you can’t see a drafted center becoming a 1C, you don’t draft him in the 1st and you take the BPA. We need elite talent pretty much everywhere (except maybe LHD).
