This is a good read. Of course the Florida front-office would downplay this, as if it didn’t play into their own decision making. Brad Marchand’s quote is particularly damning. Yet, I can see why the NHL doesn’t want to touch this. Probably wouldn’t be able to get a honest opinion from the agents as a tax-adjusted salary cap would mean less money for them.

Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
kas23 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
This sounds exactly like the player we needed Bryan to be, except for a LHD. Why not 1:1 straight up? Not saying I wouldn’t accept a draft pick in addition. -
I had thought his firing was precipitated by calling Kim a derogatory word. Hence, all the “character” talk.

I get it. I wouldn’t want to be criticized on National TV. But these players are making millions and there needs to be accountability. It’s not the coach out on the ice letting teams score on him. Yet, such public criticism wouldn’t be tolerated in the corporate world. But, again, these players are the public face of the team and they are compensated extremely well. Grow a pair.

Matthew Fairburn Latest Article regarding Terry Pegula and Adams
kas23 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I was in med school, residency, and fellowship from 2001 to 2012. Like you, I remember very little. Like those years somehow vanished. I do remember a bunch of people above me acting like total ***** though. -
Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall
kas23 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t want Kevyn to even think about trading him until his babysitter arrives. Then he can be chaperoned. -
Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Interesting quote in there. He has won just 2 playoff series in 11 years. Now, that is 2 more than anyone on the Sabres has won, but not sure if that’s the type of team we want him to build here. -
Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department

Gee, I wonder. Should I go to NYC and actually make decisions or should I go to Buffalo to help potty training their GM? -
I’ve read the article. Even posted it on here about a month ago. Here’s the most recent Achilles tears: Duclair, Quinn, Pacioretty. Not an inspiring list. There’s also Kempny, Isac Lundestrom, Knyznov over the past 10 years. Not a common injury. Lastly there’s our own Beck Malestyn, which would argue such an injury doesn’t always have to negatively affect speed.
-
I’d stay aware from Bear as well. Players with Achilles injuries don’t have a good record of fully recovering. Is he going to be the same player as before? And this opinion may be colored by what we say ourselves last season, but for a team who hasn’t played a playoff game in 14 years, why pick a question mark? We don’t have the luxury of lottery tickets, especially for a player like Bear. If we want a player of his intensity, trade for one.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department

It just seems whenever someone is doing a suboptimal job, they get demoted upwards. Appert fell upwards. Looks like he is going to do so again. Forton, same thing. There was talk of Adams falling upwards, but that’s probably for next year. -
Eric Staal hired as a special assistant to Kevyn Adams
kas23 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I think he’s going to be heading the Culture Change section of the FO. -
I would love to know what the NHL thinks about this. The Sabres preach accountability, but do the opposite when it comes to their FO. A GM who has not made the playoffs in 5 years and not fired is unheard of. My only guess is Terry feels paralyzed for what to do, especially when it comes to firing the only person he trusts.
-
It makes me wonder if Kevyn and crew even watch the playoffs. Can’t they see why some teams are good and others are not?
-
All we need to do is wait another 3-4 years and we’ll be fine.

Anonymous players spill on what went wrong this year
kas23 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I agree that a vet should have been brought in for Benson’s spot, but I also don’t think these players should be the ones complaining. We obviously have a defense issue. Benson probably played the best defense of all forwards, but players are complaining. Everyone wants to look to someone else for improvement but doesn’t want to step up to be that person themselves. -
Ruff and Adams end-of-season press conference: Saturday, April 19, 4:30pm

And yet we haven’t had one in 14 years and our GMs have been *****. I don’t see GMs under a POHO as *****, just lacking experience. It’s a mentoring relationship - most successful people have had a great mentor. It’s either that or you hire the guy once he has bounced around the league a bit and has learned (or not) from his mistakes. Call it Senior Advisor or POHO. Same thing. The ***** GM of the Panthers has this guy: https://www.nhl.com/panthers/info/rick-dudley -

Maybe this is because Ruff being handed the keys is the most likely thing that will happen. Pegula isn’t going to can the whole front office and bring in some strangers, no matter how well-regarded they are. He abandoned that strategy a while ago. Trust is above competence. That said, while I don’t think Ruff knows how to coach them to be better, it would be astonishing if he didn’t know what the problems are. I don’t see a POHO as one who is dealing with the day to day management of the team, a GM does that. Although they may have veto power, I see Ruff as more of an advisor. I would rather him have this role given Terry has held this role since forever. -

kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I think he knows a lot about hockey and is well connected. Your stats provide good reason on why he shouldn’t remain as head coach. Is a winning record as a head coach a requirement to be POHO? I do believe he should also help name a GM with more knowledge as well. -

I’ll be happy with Ruff going to POHO. All ACs gone or the decision of the next HC. And Kevyn donning the Sabretooth costume. -

I only have one question for them “when will the Sabres Embedded during the 13 game losing streak be released?” -
It’s going to be a game of epic proportions.
