This is because most of us on here have now seen how good the Sabres really can be. With decent goaltending, this team can at least be competitive every night. We want to see that the team is at least in the game, which is what we saw in the first half of our season. However, ever since Anderson went down and Toker got overworked, it’s been blow-out after blow-out. Nobody here expects them to be contending for the playoffs. But we expect them to be competitive. The goalie situation has made this untenable.

Don’t know if I would want that. That would mean we have an extra skater on the ice, which apparently would be a disadvantage for us.

I’m not saying this isn’t their plan, but why wouldn’t we want to stumble upon a Tim Thomas? Would love it. I really don’t care who is playing well for us in goal. Could be UPL, Toker, or some other unknown dude. They shouldn’t be playing favorites at this point. Unless they really don’t want to win, but then why did they even attempt to resign Ulmark? They could’ve dumped him at the trade deadline if they really wanted to lose this season.

Well, as of 72 hours ago, Appert was placed into the Covid protocol. No doubt he had very close contact with the the assistant coaches. I haven’t heard anything about them, but maybe there’s no one to coach them?

Yes. But at the risk of pointing out the obvious, half of them are below average. Size in itself doesn’t appear to a be sufficient for success.

Totally agree. Like Tage, this is a prove it year for Mitts. He’s shown glimpses, but he hasn’t proved much at the NHL level and the first couple years were pretty bad. Thus, should not be looked at as a “savior” to reach team mediocrity. I’m just looking for contribution and continued improvement.

This is fixable. Take him off the PP until he learns not to be a liability. Let him sit and watch from the bench for the next month. I would rather fail to score goals on the PP than give up SH goals. I’m fact, I don’t think Granato has a choice here. Other teams likely have taken notice and are going to attack him just the same. He’s a weak link.

It’s nice to be leapfrogged in the dumpster fire competition.

I would take any of those names over what we have right now.

The biting aside, when you create a situation where the refs are at risk for serious injury, you should sit for 5-10 games. People can fight, but when the refs intervene, it should be over.

At first I read the title and was like “well, no *****”. However, thinking about this a bit more, this is a great development.

We start every game this way.

Typical car salesman tactic. Do the bait and switch and hope the customer acts irrationally and just buys the car. Reminds me of when I bought my first car. It was an order, not a car they had on their lot. A month went by, nothing. Turns out they never put the order in thinking I would eventually cave for the more expensive model on their lot. They were dead wrong.

I really like Bloom. He’s was a very smart pick. Take a guy showing promise who didn’t play in 20-21. Great roll of the dice. I think it’s gonna pay off.

I really don’t think the hesitancy to draft a C in the last 3 drafts is really going to hurt us. I presume we’ll be drafting one with our 1st pick in 2022 (if not, I’ll change my opinion). We have Mitts, Cozens, and now Thompson and Krebs. We are flushed with 2C and 3Cs. I don’t think drafting a random Center in the past 3 drafts would’ve moved to be needle, as I don’t really see any C’s picked better than we already had. Who knows though, maybe we’ll stumble into one in 2022.
