  1. If the past is any indicator, I think GA is good for one of these per week when he isn’t on vacation.
  2. Zucker’s comment is an excellent piece of evidence that the “don’t block the kids” strategy was doomed to failure. For most of the last 14 seasons this team was woefully short of players like Zucker. It still is, really.
  3. I was a racing fanatic for a long time. All of it. Ovals, dirt, Indy, F1, bikes, boats. But nascar most vehemently. I lost interest when the driver I rooted for aged out. I rediscovered my love for F1 a couple of years ago. I just wish more races were in a western hemisphere time zone. 😁
  4. You had better not ***** vacate this place for next season. So help me deity of your choice.
  5. This team still needs reinforcement that winning is the sole expectation. Drafting 6 instead of 7 really doesn’t matter at all.
  6. I would like nothing more than for the team to come out with their hair on fire, give an inspiring effort, maybe knock a head or two, and really give the fans in attendance a good show. They deserve it. But I am sure this will be a run for the bus effort from both teams.
  7. My recollection is, Alex Tuch was much more direct in saying playoffs were the goal than KAs comments indicated. But I am old and feeble and my memory should not be trusted.
  8. At the 10 year mark of our era of futility I made the point that we have pissed away an entire athlete’s generation.
  9. And its not like Girgs lumped up the guy that threw the hit. He grabbed arms with someone and then something happened in that wrestling match that pissed the two players off. Girgs wasn’t so much coming to the aid of a hurt teammate as much as he was engaging in the requisite group hug that usually ensues, and someone pissed on someone else’s cheerios and they both got mad at each other.
  10. I have said it before. Nearly every player on this roster (this goes for last season too) is good enough to be a regular contributor on a playoff team. The talent is there. The team building and team management sucks. My bet is he signed with TB with the understanding that he might need to drop the gloves to keep his roster spot. I feel weird about it. He’s not that kind of player at all, and I am sure he is well outside his comfort zone doing it. It’s kind of…….. sad, or disrespectful in a way, that a guy who isn’t that guy has decided to be that guy for one last paycheck. His choice, of course. But I don’t understand the animosity towards him doing it now when it was never the type of person he was back when he was young. Leopards and spots. I don’t think he changed his.
  11. I don’t believe in faith or hope. I guess that is a no.
  12. Other. As most of you already know, I hit the level of mostly apathy some years ago. I sort of pay attention to the goings on. I check social media to see how a game turned out. I watch youtube highlights when they win. There are a couple of youtube channels I subscribe to and watch for Sabres commentary. I watch a game when it is convenient to do so, which isn’t often considering I don’t subscribe to any services that carry the Sabres games. But that is the extent of my involvement. I can’t even engage in debates about this team anymore because I just can’t be bothered to put the effort into thinking about it all that much. This team needs to earn my interest, and I really don’t give a damn if they don’t try to earn it. It’s their loss, not mine. I really don’t see any difference in my outlook whether they keep that clown or send him away. Frankly, I am here more for the social media than this display of sports excrement.
  13. Bah. It’s pretty obvious that they didn’t want him fighting here. They didn’t want that here at all, really.
  14. Yup. Way bigger risk to the Sabres staying in Buffalo than a change in ownership. If this becomes chronic, I would expect it resulting in a sale AND a move. Oh, what would I do with the social media vacuum?
  15. After that interview I said there is no way KA survives this. His most important job right now is recruitment. Publicly stating that your organization is uncompetitive and saying out loud why can only hurt his recruitment efforts. It also is an excuse in a business where there can be no excuses when it comes to winning. Just a wrong message all the way around. It is the worst bit of leading I have ever encountered. It should have resulted in a firing after the Montreal game.
  16. I dunno. I think a play where he saw the hit coming in time to react and avoid the worst of it is a strange play to criticize for lack of awareness. Awareness is what prevented an injury there.
  17. I actually thought Kulich showed excellent awareness. He saw it coming and stopped skating and got his hands up to protect himself. Its the only reason he didn’t end up concussed on the play. His arms took the brunt of it and prevented him from hitting his head on the ice when he went down. I’m guessing it was a set play that Quinn didn’t recognize as a suicide pass in that situation. Kulich did have the awareness to give up the puck and protect himself. My take is “well done kid”. Ive warmed up to Kulich considerably. Seems a potential keeper.
