  1. Avoiding watching the Sabres, duh.
  2. So, not an infection. Internal bleeding, per Benson’s post practice interview.
  3. We were out of the playoffs then, and we’re out now. I didn’t miss nuthin.
  4. The fans that show up should dress in inflatable character costumes like the Portland protesters, and thoroughly mock the absurdity of it all.
  5. Title is the whole subject. I’m using an iphone, Safari browser. Damn, but pages have been slow to load the last couple of days. Anyone else?
  6. The first two sentences are a friggin genius interpretation. I want to bear your children.
  7. I said it last season, if this is the best Pegula can do in 15 seasons, it is functionally equivalent to the city not having a team. The fans will be staying away by Thanksgiving, if not Halloween. #notafraidofPegulaselling
  8. Lindy’s oldest, and last trick. Put a mucker on every line. After this, he’s out of tricks.
  9. I just assumed PASabreFan was talking in 3rd person.
  10. Its the NHL. American sports media won’t care enough to even be aware, let alone make a national story of it.
  11. I think we are on the Kesselring timetable.
  12. Running it back is so on brand.
  13. Sad news today regarding the kid’s foster dog. Pup went to the vet this morning to get neutered. The little guy apparently had a heart attack under sedation and didn’t make it. The kids are crushed. He was an easy dog to get attached to. We’re all hurting a bit right now.
  14. I am guessing they saw a potential rock thrown by the lawnmower as a bigger worry than your 3-4,000lb vehicle.
  15. Noone noticed Power on his offhand side as well?
  16. You’re a Sabres fan. Surely you can get a doctor to diagnose all 3.
  17. This will be so much fun! I can’t wait! 🦄🌈🎂🎈🪅 Just shoot me.
  18. Listening to the Travis Yost interview on WGR right now. Surprised at how high he is on Buffalo’s defensive platoon.
  19. Maybe I wasn’t as clear as I hoped. What if UPL is out awhile and we have a system in place that benefits UPLs strengths?
  20. I would like to bring up that Hockey Writers assessment again. Specifically the comment that Ellis’ AHL team had to use a specific defensive system to take advantage of his strengths and weaknesses. I am going to go out on a limb and assume that the defensive system going into this season would be one that benefits a taller goalie (UPL) and plays to the strengths he brings. For at least the start of the season, we are using two goalies that are not considered big goalies, and likely play a smaller goalie game. I am really curious if this has the coaching staff making changes in system at the brink of the start of the season.
  21. I seriously doubt there was any actual plan, or trap that was set, to get Ellis. But having two goalies that thrive in the same system has to be an advantage. Unless you’ve installed the wrong system for them…..
  22. I mean, they did acknowledge the challenges of seeing pucks in traffic when you can’t see over or around the players in front of you. That doesn’t absolve taller guys who just don’t have the reflexes or instincts. It just means taller guys scouting reports identify reflexes and instincts as drawbacks.
  23. Now that it seems Ellis is our back up for the foreseeable future, I went looking to find some scouting info. Some input from The Hockey Writers back in January: Ellis is a smaller goaltender who doesn’t cover up most of the net when he’s in the crease. He’s six feet tall and 189 pounds, which forces the Thunderbirds to play a specific style of defense to help him out. They must avoid playing in Ellis’s sightline to allow him to see the puck and make the save. While he might not have the best glove in the AHL, he can play any area of the net with quick movement. His flexibility stands out. Ellis is also aggressive and willing to come out of the crease to make a stop or jump on a loose puck to stop a scoring chance. This style of play has its ups and downs, but for the most part, it’s worked out for him. The aggressive style that Ellis plays with comes back to hurt him at times. He’ll be out of position or allow opponents to find wide-open looks on the net because of his urge to make the initial save. It also doesn’t help that Ellis is one of the smaller goaltenders in the league. He won’t see the puck when there’s a shot through traffic, and when the game slows down, he’s left out to dry.
