Bet your entire 401K, savings and house on Sabres losing the next game
Weave replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Given what the stock market seems poised to do today, betting it on the Sabres seems like a wash. -
Who breaks non-playoff streak 1st, Sabres or NY Jets?

Team toughness also needs someone to lead it. This group isn’t inspiring itself. -

It should be painfully obvious now that an every day roster tough guy is about as big a need as a 2nd pair Dman. Maybe a bigger need. -
What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?

No idea what his ultimate position will be. I do know he has a dynamic element to his game we haven’t seen much of during our generation wandering in the desert. Mitts had that dynamic element too. Hopefully this time it turns out better.

Why have I been summoned? -
I wish I could find where I read it. Damned insomnia. Apparently the door may not be closed on Petterson? Canucks to evaluate whether they have made enough change to get where they want to go. I’d guess it would be a post season move/decision at this point.

Calgary’s mindset is right. They were going for a soft rebuild and when they saw they had a team capable of getting in the playoffs, they re-inforced it. Imagine if KA had that mindset a couple of seasons ago…….

There is a really good punk show coming to the Town Ballroom in April. Adding that to my list. Busy start to the concert season so far this year. Me likey.

It appears you are discounting Cozens and Byrams warts more than you are discounting Pettersons. Most of the talk about Cozens is how he drags everyone down. If true, is there really much risk in moving the asset?
-
I habe no emotional attachment to getting, or not getting, Petterson. My only take is, every player has warts, including the one(s) we would be sending the other way. I have to depend on people in the industry to make the decision regarding whether or not Pettersons warts are either temporary or less impactful than the warts we would be sending back. I am not really in a position to know these things, and I don’t care to speculate about it. What I do know is, this team needs substantial change and a blockbuster trade like a Petterson deal would certainly bring that. I 100% support the concept of a Petterson trade, minus the things I can’t know in the details. Even KA has a better sense of the value of the warts than I do. Another low bar I suppose, but its what I’ve got.

Doug Allen to sing the Anthems before the Sabres-Nashville Game 1/31/25

Made a minor correction above. -
Yup. My son is 27. The last time this team was relevant he was in middle school. The odds of him developing a fervent fanhood now are pretty unlikely I should think. A whole generation skipped. What an idiotic situation.

Nostalgia. That is all that’s left. -
Random dude on the barstool next to me wasn’t judging. It was said with humor as the intent. But it does show just how stretched fandom in this team has people. (Too lazy to get the grammar right) Terry, you really need to stand up and take notice. You are maybe a season or two from flushing a wonderful fanbase down the toilet.

I still wear my Sabres attire out and about. Just last week I was in a local watering hole and a random guy next to me ask, you still wearing that stuff? Yes, yes I am. I am still a fan. I don’t enjoy it enough to watch them right now, but they are still my team. Stockholm syndrome, maybe?

I know you directed this a TAS, but I’d like to answer as well. The Bills drought and the Sabres drought really changed my outlook on sports. I just want to be entertained. The more you can entertain me, the more acceptable the losses are. This loss to the Chiefs doesn’t bother me. Am I disappointed? Absolutely. But this team has provided so much entertainment value over the last fews years that I don’t see a point in getting myself all knotted up over that game. KC has made the entire league look second rate over the last 5 seasons. Do I wish the Bills could too? Yup. Am I upset they can’t. Nope. They got my hopes up and put me on the edge of my seat. I got my money’s worth. Maybe that’s a low bar. I’m ok with that. If only the Sabres could meet that low bar too.

I’ve had some adopted teams win championships (Dodgers, Syracuse Orangemen, Bears during the Walter Payton era), but none of them had the shear emotion that a Buffalo team winning a championship would have.

Tyson Kozak Recalled Aube-Kubel assigned to Rochester

This might be one of the only teams in the league where he makes the roster at all.
