  1. I loved his game, but I suspect his off ice issues do carry over into the room.
  2. Fortunately I wasn't jaded yet and was rabid for those teams. You learn....
  3. I'm trying not to point and laugh here...... There was no hesitation. I don't think it could be as simple as faking that he knew who the guy was. He had to have thought it was about a different person.
  4. He had to have thought he heard a different name. Right? Right?
  5. Genuinely surprised by the interest. High risk, reasonable reward. Teams be desperate I suppose.
  6. Treat it like the Stanley Cup. Start w 1 puck. When it fills up with signatures, glue on another puck. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  7. Now that the workday is over, expanding on my thought here. Scotty, an HOF'er, had the following in his drafts. 1979 #11 OAL Mike Ramsey, a legend in Buffalo. 1980 #20 OAL(Steve Patrick) and several mid to late draft hits 1981 #17 OAL and a poor draft. Hannu Virta was a success, but went back to Europe after 5 seasons. 1982 three 1st rd picks including #6 OAL, and two 2nd rd picks. Housley, Cyr, Andrechuck, and the infamous Timo Jutila came from this draft. An embarrassment of riches. Two HOF'ers FFS 1983 three 1sts and two 2nds again, including #5 and #10 OAL. Barrasso, Lacombe, Creighton, Tucker, Puppa, Ruutu, and Krupp. Holy *****. That's alot of good NHLers. 1984 had a "normal" selection of 1 in each round. Andersson, Sheppard, Halkydis all had respectable careers, albeit as role players. 1985 another "normal" draft. By now the drafts of 82 and 83 are having an effect on the NHL roster. Added Johansson, Hogue, Reekie. More respectable NHL'ers. 1986 was Scotty's last Sabres draft, and the start of a string of poor drafts in general by the Sabres. But an absolute haul from the last 4 drafts couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs in an era where 4 out of 5 teams in each division qualified for the playoffs. I am absolutely in "show me" mode. This song has been played before. Obviously, a good prospect pool is better than a poor prospect pool. But I'm well past hopium.
  8. Ugh. Nothing good comes from Private Equity ownership. Bank on it.
  9. A whole bunch of us are old enough to have seen Scotty Bowman collect an obscene number of good draft picks and have it fail. Am I hopeful for these kids? Sure. That’s about the extent of the emotion though.
  10. There is no small amount of niave and idealism there. Its not a bad thing though. We’ve all been there.
  11. I don’t either. Dahlin isn’t a forward in defenseman’s clothing. He’s an offensive defenseman.
  12. It may have been an overreaction, but those plays got in his head and his overall play was detrimental to the team while those plays were in his head. It was a rough stretch. Being the best defenseman during that time wasn’t a testament to that stretch of play, it was a testament to how weak this team is that a guy playing that badly was still the best option. And then there is this guy. Lol
  13. Completely unfair misrepresentation of the criticism he received. Noone was lambasting 1 PP mishap (Inky!). They were lambasting 1 PP mishap cascading into a collapse of his game overall, to the point he becomes a liability in that game. It appears so far that he is getting past that. Credit coaching I assume. He can afford one mistake on the PP when he recovers and he continues to play at the level he is capable of.
  14. Definitely slow. I don't think he fits this team's gameplan. Not even in the bottom 6. If this were still GMTM's Sabres he'd be claimed already.
  15. The latch on the leash came loose. I’d like to blame it on a 15yr old leash that we used for our previous dog. The spring for the latch doesn’t have much strength at all. But it is equally likely that I didn’t get it fully latched around the ring on her harness. She shook off the snow and the leash was off! She did escape her harness a couple of days ago in the back yard, but I tightened her harness and it seems pretty secure now. Maybe she is an escape artist. Maybe thats how she ended up in a pound in rural Kentucky.
  16. We’ve only started working on basic commands a couple of days ago. And she’s still not entirely comfortable with her surroundings. I was genuinely afraid she was gone. She did on 2 occasions stop and let me approach. She’s learning to trust us, but it’s still not her first impulse. I’m glad she ultimately trusted me enough to let me leash her. Its only been about 10 days. I’m still stressed out over an hour later.
  17. We’ve had our rescue dog for about a week and a half. On out noon walk she got off the leash. So, through the neighborhood we go trying to get her to stop so I can releash her. Shes in the middle of the road and she stops. As I get almost within arms length of her some asshat blasts his horn. Of course she spooks and runs off. Fortunately, she stopped running at the next block and I was able to get her back on leash. What kind of douchebag hits their horn when you are trying to get a loose dog leashed?
  18. Haven’t watched Olympic hockey in a long time. I might actually go out of my way to watch this with kids and a ragtag mix of lesser pros representing US and Canada.
