I suspect if the pipeline wasn’t already flush it would have been more of a priority. KA was purposely filtering who he would work with for cap space. He’s obviously hopeful that we might get into the playoffs because he ruled out making that sort of deal with anyone that might get in our way of making the playoffs, and anyone who we might potentially face in the playoffs. Good on him for acting like playoffs matter.

I certainly think its possible. I don’t think it is likely to make enough of a difference over what remains of the season. Regardless, a heroic run to 9th is a nice consolation prize for now. Next season…. Someone needs to feel some serious pressure for a playoff appearance. Period.

I’m sure KA feels the team is ready for these moves now, not last season. I’m not convinced it was for this season. How many additional games will Greenway win us instead of JJP? Or Hinostroza? I don’t think the marginal improvement moves the needle with this little season left. And I’m sure KA has considered this.

You could only hope a 2nd rd pick turns into a Greenway. Its like a 25% chance. We traded a 25% chance of a Greenway in 3-5 years for a fully developed Greenway now and for the next 2 seasons. Draft picks are over valued.

I’d like to say yes, but its more of a partial yes. I don’t think any of these moves were made with getting into this seasons’ playoffs in mind. If he fixes the goalie situation in the offseason, next season should be all in.

I can live with C. I wish these moves were made as soon as we knew that Dahl and Tuch were down so maybe we could get a bit of a boost for the last couple of games, but I recognize that maybe those moves weren’t there a few days ago.

I would hate that I would have to love him. What would I pay? I’m wondering what Wash would target? Their deadline seemed pretty schizophrenic. Can’t tell if they are selling for a rebuild, or trying to rework the team for next season. Mitts would be in play. As would VO, but I don’t see where Wash would be interested in VO. I don’t know that I’d be upset if it ended up JJP.

I took DGs comments as referring to his aggressive style, not his skating. He didn’t shy away from puck pursuit at all in game 1.

Which requires losing. You don’t go from lottery to playoffs in 1 step usually. That usually requires a middle step. This is their middle step. We had a shot at skipping the middle step this season, but that is becoming more difficult by the game. But that’s no excuse to be a seller and root for 9th last FFS.

Listen to the wonder that is Jack Edwards and then glow in the competence that is the Sabres broadcast team. Andy Brickley is damned good though. We could use that in our broadcast.

I can’t foresee KA bringing in another player today. The impact on our playoff chances would be so marginal at this point, that the value added wouldn’t trip KAs trigger. I think there is a small chance he makes a move for a player for one or two years down the road, but my guess is that most likely happens in the offseason. This is it, kids.
