  1. I’m just blown away by the price Florida has paid for their last 3 trades. They have to be all in on now. I get it, but man, not having a 1st rd pick in several years is gonna hurt down the line. Hopefully for their fans it pans out.
  2. Your second paragraph makes a point. The style of play Maurice wants to implement may need Tkachuck more than it needs JH.
  3. Yeah really. That miss resulted in a turnover. I’ll take it.
  4. He probably isn’t good enough for Arizona or Chicago, realistically. Kid wants to be paid as much as he can. He’ll probably make more in the Swiss league than he would in the AHL.
  5. What are Floridas centers now?
  6. Is JJ an LW? My addled brain remembers him in the right aide in Rochester.
  7. He was not close to being an NHLer. His ceiling was tweener.
  8. Ummm, South Buffalo *is* green.
  9. First I’ve heard of it, honestly.
  10. At this point the Leafs are a much more respected organization, and has been for most of the last decade. it is a lofty goal to get to the level of respect even Toronto has.
  11. Regardless, anyone rooting for the Sabres had no room to throw shade over that stat.
  12. Sucks for the Amerks.
  13. Ironic someone named SABRESbunny posting that.
  14. This seems most accurate to me. It may make sense to lock up some of these kids before they break out, but not for big numbers, and not for 7+ years. They are fairly plug and play at forward.
  15. 8 year deals are the price of having superstars. Those stars aren’t going to accept shorter deals. If you don’t want to offer long term deals then you have to accept mediocre to decently good players as the trade off.
  16. Beat me to it. In my mind there are two factors at play, do you have faith in your evaluation of his future performance, and is that player a core piece of the team? If you strongly believe your evaluation and the player projects to be a core piece, you go long term.
  17. Part of being a good GM is predicting future performance and offering contracts accordingly.
  18. Since I was the one that initiated that line if conversation I’ll respond. The difference to me is when the player asks to be moved. All bets are off when the icon says, get me out of here. Maybe that thinking is lopsided on my part, but that’s my difference.
  19. But it’s not a “vote someone off the island” occurrence. If you have an opportunity to improve…. say #2 RW or #2 RD….. and it won’t hamstring the cap, and it makes sense for the next few seasons, and it improves the team overall, you make the move. We haven’t smelled playoffs in 11+ seasons and yet we haven’t progressed beyond the “ there is no room on this team for a 50 goal scorer” mentality.
  20. When did improving the team become such a gnashing-of-teeth occurance?
  21. Past performance does not guarantee future results. -Your Merril Lynch Representative
  22. You had the last decade to plan this ***** and you do it now?
  23. I figured you would be using parchment these days.
  24. I don’t know if we’ll be better, but I suspect it will be the closest its been in a decade. Boston has been getting older for 5-7 years. It was inevitable that the stopped clock would be right eventually.
