  1. I thought there was a stipulation in there that each team would lose a player. If that's the case, LV will have to pick up some AHL or 2-way guys as to be able to get down to the roster limit. It'll be interesting to see if LV tries to flip guys by picking them and then trading to another team for something. Also, in your list you have Bogo as "required", but the jury is out on that one. Once he waived his movement clause to be traded to Buffalo, Buffalo isn't required to honor it. As far as I know, no one here knows whether Buffalo reinstated it after the trade.
  2. Compare and contrast: subtweeting and vaguebooking. K-thx-bye.
  3. Hasek should be a lock. Perrault maybe, but even borderline there will be borderline guys from the Habs and Leafs that'll get in before him. I never considered LaFontaine that big of a deal, I'd be surprised if he made it unless connections.
  4. In my experience it's:
  5. Re: McCabe interference: Just a joke, based on the 5-minute major he got for this similar-looking hit. I didn't know you could get a major for interference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeblqxNrcWk 07:17 BUF Jake McCabe: Interference (maj) — 5 min http://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/201404120BOS.html
  6. He'll end up playing at some point due to injury and luck one in. I feel it.
  7. As much as I like a good hit, both of those ended up seriously affecting the hittee and dampens my enthusiasm. I hope Laine fairs better than Umberger. Also, I'm surprised McCabe didn't get a 5-minute major for interference on the Laine hit. ;)
  8. It'd be interesting to bring shot blocks into this discussion too. A D that has lots of shot blocks per opponent shot but also sucks at shot suppression is breaking even at best. Makes me wonder how Jay McKee would have faired.
  9. These are the points, distilled. Clip and save when talking to the Leafs fan in you life: - Marner is playing wing and with better players. - Eichel was on a terrible NHL team last year and still scored reasonably well. - Eichel is on a bad NHL team this year and is scoring reasonably well. - Marner is playing on a team that emphasizes scoring. There's no way Marner would score as many in Buffalo, and no way Eichel wouldn't score more in Toronto. - Centers are more valuable than just points. - Intangibles! :)
  10. The Sabres will make the finals but never win the cup with Eichel. There, I said it. I hope I'm wrong.
  11. I'm not even sure then. You have to question anyone raised by parents that thought "Chad" was a good name. :)
  12. I'll eat a couple with shells too, oddly satisfying. What happened to Pearl Street? I was there a few years ago but didn't eat. The beer there is good, but nothing memorable. The primary thing I remember was the awesome belt-drive fan system.
  13. I saw an awesome on earlier with break and milk photoshopped in.
  14. But not an individual player's defensive ability.
  15. I'd venture to say "most of them", sorry. Bad football can be great; fumbles, interceptions, big runs, safeties, etc.). Bad soccer is great because there's scoring. Bad racing has lots of crashes. It does depend, though. Bad baseball where no one can hit would be insufferable; bad baseball were the ball is flying around and fielders are missing plays sounds pretty cool.
  16. I picked up a case of Storm King before the holidays, may have one in a few. I picked up one of these for NYE but didn't get around to opening it. http://beerstreetjournal.com/victory-jubilee/ I'll have to find a night that I'm comfortable with 750ml of 12% beer.
  17. No kidding, In recent experience, my wife's parents up on Centerline (in Wales) tend to have a few inches more than my parents in Elma.
  18. I don't think it was many of the boomers giving them out, but I remember hearing about them back in the late 90s. which would have been pretty early for Gen X to be tossing them around. The point is, millennials got the trophies from Gen X and maybe Boomers; they're a product of their upbringing like anyone else. Boomers have their own myopic perceptions, both figurative and literal. :)
  19. I think you mean Gen X and Boomers; they're the ones that gave out the trophies.
  20. Grant gets a reprieve for levelling Vesey, but to win hockey games you need to score goals.
  21. It is, there are rules about the number of players on the line of scrimmage. Every once in awhile a tackle will get called for being too far behind the center. I prefered "Buffalo Sabrepede"
  22. Whoops, wrong Michigan. Thanks!
  23. Nilsson in net why not: @2385, 2 on the Sabres at +175.
  24. I've been looking at both of those; why both? Seems like for my use (Prime Video) Roku would be fine. Is there something on the Fire Stick that you love that the Roku doesn't do?
  25. +/- is like saying saying "I rode my bicycle 5 miles today" (I didn't, don't worry). Useful information in some ways, but if start using it to compare myself to other people without taking other factors into effect it gives a distorted picture. The guy in Kansas on a 60 degree day has it easier (no hills) than the guy riding around Tahoe (altitude and all hills) or the person where it's been pouring rain or snowing all day.
