  1. Well, if the Sabres trade Doan to the Leafs *of course* he's not going to win a cup there. Let's not be ridiculous. And I do get your point, probably half of every SC winner's roster played somewhere else before that. Buffalo isn't unique in that regard. That doesn't make my statement (joke) any less true, he's more likely to win a cup if the Sabres are dealing him to a team looking to make a run than with the Sabres... Because if the Sabres are dealing him they're probably out of the chase anyway.
  2. I player that'll win the cup... on another team after the Sabres trade him and the deadline in 3 years.

  4. It's even more special when it happens in Toronto, and from the looks of it, in a rout. That said, a bunch of Sabres fans gleefully celebrating a team getting getting eliminated probably isn't an awesome look. Sure, it feels good, but Sabres Elimination Day is a winter holiday.
  5. To be fair, the new Shaboozy song *is* a banger.
  6. There's nothing the Sabres can say at this point that will make me care about next season. The Miss Buffalo has sailed.
  7. Hear me out: what if we trade out a bunch of guys of picks and upcoming prospects, be terrible next year and get a great pick, something, and then the cup will be paraded in front of City Hall? It just might work.
  8. "If Canadians stay away"? They already are. We're booking vacation stuff out west and there are surprising amounts of discounts and stuff available. My parents mentioned that Florida has been quieter than normal this winter. They listen to Fox, so it's "because the Canadian dollar is down" and not "the seething hatred for the US government and border hassles".
  9. See, the Sabres have been playing 4d chess. The team is so awful, and players that get traded suddenly get better, that everyone is clamoring to trade for our mediocre prospects because it's just the team that's hindering them.
  10. You've been going to the same place your parents went to (or your family switched when Steve moved on and is working at the other pizza joint down the street). That's like 9/10 of the pizzas you buy. You know the number by heart, 655-4646 (and I haven't lived anywhere near WNY in 25+years).
  11. There's no "What's the point?" option. Strange.
  12. Hoping no one gets hurt so the new GM has the full list of assets to bargain with.
  13. Beware Sabres hope on the ides of March.
  14. Is it time for the annual "Wow, the Sabres are showing life in March! Next year is the year!" event already? My, how time flies.
  15. We've been saying that for a decade.
  16. I have a few, but none something I'd call my top-tier fandom. I lived in Philly for a long time, and since there isn't a direct conflict of interest, I was happy when the Philles and Eagles won over the years Don't hate me: in 2001-2002, I was spending a lot of time in Boston for work; I was in town when the Pats won their first and that was pretty cool This was their first SB, so they weren't "the Pats" yet I even stuck around to go to the parade, since it was a block from the hotel
  17. Yep, and mostly dealing in puns (which are awesome, I love puns). Agreed. Leitmotif is a song that evokes the character (or player in this case). This is a nice podcast (and series if you want to learn about classical music) about John Williams' use in Star Wars: https://classicalclassroomshow.com/classical-classroom-episode-4-brett-mitchell-teaches-leitmotif-in-john-williams-star-wars-score/ Yakety Sax makes you think about running around, so stick that on D that runs around in his own zone a lot. Holst's Mars, Bringer of War would be my pick for John Scott, since the song just sounds big and ponderous. Although, if you wanted to stick with the Holst thing, Jupiter would fit too since it's big but also jovial. I'm struggling to not use classical/orchestral music, since I'm not sure you can really do leitmotif with a song that has lyrics and popular music usually does. Plus, Mars is a banger.
  18. Can we go with Yakety Sax for the entire D core?
  19. That's as good as reason as any to watch it! I remember the otherwise forgettable "Broken Arrow" with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta having music whenever Deak (Travolta) was around too. I usually don't notice such things, but at some point the music started playing before Travolta was there and I said to myself, "that's the Deak music" just as he showed up.
  20. Northern Exposure was really good at this too. There were themes for each of the characters (Joel theme, etc.).
  21. We'll get there! Because N years ago it was "great O and bend-don't-break D". Things move in swings. Everyone will be trying to load on D now, and then some team with a great O will win a few and it'll swing back.
  22. Any chance they'll throw on that video from the Darien Lake theater where you're on a rollercoaster and rapids and stuff? If so, I'm in for a Sabres game. Except I can't be bothered to actually watch the game, not worth it.
