  1. They always beat them just in Buffalo though, right?
  2. I wish there was a single click option on a post to add someone to your ignore list. Something has to be done to stop this Taro T monster.
  3. They need to figure out something very soon because it's going to get ugly fast. Getting booed off the ice in the second home game, the so called kids' day, is a sign of serious trouble. And the thing is, short of a trade, there is no reinforcement coming anytime soon. The kids need to be exposed to winning in the AHL. There's no way they're going to be subjected to what's currently going on with the big club. I'll give them credit for one thing though, at least they convince me pretty early in the game not to waste my time watching the rest of it.
  4. It's a hell of a lot easier to establish yourself as a character guy over 4 years. They lean towards the guy who stuck with it and stayed in college a few more years.
  5. And far too often, the elite leave before they would have truly had a shot at the award. Even with the level of talent these kids have, it's tough for an 18 year old to out class a 22 or 23 year old. There's also a character aspect that the voters like to factor in on the selections. That right away typically biases them towards the upperclassmen.
  6. We put too much weight into the right hand/left hand thing. If a vet like Gorges starts the season in the press box behind a journeyman, it tells you a lot about where he fits with the team.
  7. And either way, he’s restricted after the year
  8. I'll be very curious if they try to find a way to free themselves from Gorges if/when everyone is healthy. Tennyson getting the start over him is very telling. Only of those two will need to be passed through waivers. With Chicago signing Franson, you never can tell what other teams might do. I could see the team trying to gauge interest in Gorges that way.
  9. People can rant about Lehner all they want, but it doesn't matter what he does if the team doesn't score a single goal in the shootout. At the end of the day though, I'd still much rather see them lose in the shootout instead of in regulation. Those points count for something. The key to this entire season is going to be what happens during regulation, not overtime. The only way they're going to take that next step is if they start winning more and never letting it get to the point of free hockey.
  10. I missed her story. What was it?
  11. It's not like they're going to be able to pack it up and put it away during a game.
  12. Oh god, I'm getting bad memories of the Ryan brothers.
  13. I'm jumping back a bit in this one. I don't like including Hasek in the discussion. That was a completely different time. In my mind, the modern hockey era starts with the return from the lockout in 2005. I know that strictly limits how much time we have to work with, but with the cap came a whole new world.
  14. I have two words for you: Garth Snow
  15. The Sabres officially have the slowest press box in the NHL.
  16. Hockey teams also don't play in an arena designed specifically for basketball all while constantly facing rumors of relocation. That's an extreme scenario out there in Brooklyn.
  17. I'm not quite sure I want to know what lead you to that second account.
  18. I don't remember a thing about the food, but I do know the Ground Round at the Seneca Mall had the deal where a kid would step on a scale and then the price would be their weight. Could you imagine if someone actually tried to have that deal today?
  19. It might not be needed but it's still nice to have. I'd much rather have someone else spend that two minutes in the box (you're right, no dropped gloves) than Jack.
  20. It's not 7PM yet. How's that for a complaint?
  21. Two points where he is dragged to the ice by all 6 opposing players, still managing to setup Kane for the empty net. Not good enough to be acknowledged as a great play.
  22. I always suspected that millibank was actually that cigarette guy. It's good to see you around here again.
  23. So wait, there's hockey tonight? Can't wait. I'm sick of all the football talk between my friends. Now I can tune them out even more than I do already.
  24. I'd guess that those are the only 3 leagues they officially recognize. The NHL CBA officially defines minor league as the AHL. I would bet that whatever document the AHL runs on has something similar to define the ECHL.
  25. It's not his decision, so I'm glad that he's smart enough to dance around that one.
