  1. So the PS3 was actually around longer? Wow, I would have never guessed that. I assume games just took longer to develop on that platform. Anyway, it's nice to be able to break out the (not so) old PS2 and have no issues other than remembering exactly which plug on the AV plug goes where. I do not miss all the hassles that came along with any of the cartridge based systems. I'll take some slow loading times instead of needing to blow on a game and trying to position it just right (paging inkman, unintentional innuendo alert in the video game thread). Also, I forgot about one major tech advance that came along with the jump to PS3, internal memory. Thank god I threw the old memory cards in the box with the PS2 or else I'd be out of luck with my final fantasy game.
  2. What's the deal with the self-referential posts in this thread? I'm very worried about the state of the space-time continuum.
  3. I'd love to know how much interest they have in that team. I haven't kept up with the revolving door of AHL affiliates, but to have a team in the same city as an NHL team, but then not be their affiliate. It has to be awkward.
  4. That's the first thing that came to mind for me. It feels like a recycling of that Polian story.
  5. I still want them to do the all star game outdoors somewhere. It would be a much better use of that environment instead of an actual game that counts. Unfortunately, now that they're doing 18 of those games a year now, they'll never step back from that kind of cash grab.
  6. Is this board filtering the word fart now?
  7. When I see kids remaking that movie, all I can picture is instead of nazis, it's ISIS guys trying to find and destroy the ark. You said kids from the 80s, so it should be safe from that, but put it in the hands of some more recent kids and we're all in trouble.
  8. Paging the mods: we may need a Pommenstein type filter for this guy.
  9. A headset is one investment I don't feel the need to make. I don't play too often and I'm happy enough with the sound system I have hooked up to my tv. I can definitely see where it has it's advantages, but it's just not worth it to me. VR is in a strange spot. It seems like it is essentially impossible to market it since you can't give people a sneak peak of the action unless they actually have that system already. It's something I'm not interested in for that very reason, I've never actually seen it. Then again, I'm not in their target demographic anyway, the people who will casually walk into a gamestop type store and browse around for an hour. I'd imagine that the stores have something setup to push that hardware now, but I'm the type that only goes if he has a specific game in mind. That sounds about right. I was starting college at that point and waited a year or two to buy one. The quality is better obviously, but as I glance through my stash of old games, I'd say that I have more PS2 games than PS3. That even includes a bunch of PS3 games that I sold (Red Dead Redemption is the first that comes to mind) when I had to replace my system that died. It's probably has a lot to do with the lifetime of the system though. I'm flying by memory here, but the PS2 must have been around longer than the PS3. I'm too lazy to look this up, but every franchise I can think of that I played always had more games on the PS2 than the PS3 (GTA, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear). Not the most scientific way to measure it, but I think it's a safe assumption.
  10. If I was worried about post count, I'd respond to everything with youtube clips.
  11. I'll credit them for including the charts in there. Those were pretty useful. It's amazing how linear the increases have been. That could very easily support the revenue sharing idea if their information would be fleshed out a bit.
  12. I broke out my old PS2 this past week. It wasn't that long ago, but that machine already feels like a dinosaur. It's amazing how something as simple as wireless controllers completely changed things.
  13. Given the current depth chart, this probably sounds like the most ideal/likely scenario. Sure they could go hunting the trade or free agent market, but the blue line is a much bigger concern/priority at this point.
  14. You guys are still talking about this crap?
  15. I wish he would go a little further than just saying "several teams have declined to raise prices". Each year when we get these annual complaints, I feel like we never get to see a true breakdown of what everyone else is doing. How many is "several"? 2? 12?
  16. Bouncyball's scheduling drives me mad. There is no way that they should be starting the conference finals on one side while the previous round is still underway in the other conference. How do they ever get things to sync up in that league?
  17. Here's how slow it is at this time of the year. My first thought while reading that was that we need to convince Reinhart to wear a higher number.
  18. You and PA taking off at the same time? Christmas just came early!
  19. I heard some talk the other day about the popularity of his number and it got me thinking. Baseball has to be the sport where I'm least aware of players' numbers. They have never really been a prominent feature of the game when televised.
  20. He needs to clear waivers to go to the minors. If Buffalo is high on him, you'd have to think that's at least one team that would claim him to stick around as their backup. And the thing about being "stuck" with bad contracts is that teams may incentivize you to take those deals off their hands.
  21. It's all about perspective. He's also the 3rd GM in 20 years. :D
  22. I missed this last week. They will not patch if the nail is too close to the sidewall. The fourth picture here is where I have been getting these nails almost each time. Fortunately, the most recent one was in a spot that could be patched. I was also lucky that I bought the new one at Costco and they give you hazard coverage with any new tires, so the patch was free (new tire would have been too if I needed one). I don't want to call it lucky since it was another nail in a tire and a big time loss, but only one of my tires was from there and covered... the one that got the nail. Oh, and I was wrong last week, it was actually 9 days between nails. It was also my fifth in just over a year.
  23. Why do we always assume that the new coach has to come from the new GMs tree? That assumption blew up in our face last time.
  24. He definitely oversold that one. NS's link pretty much sums up the reason for the fine, that it was automatic for being his second offense.
  25. I hope they fix that quickly. I can never see how the sharing thing can work out well for anyone other than a team wanting to save some dollars. There's so much that gets in the way of development when you're mixing prospects from different organizations. I hope they wind up being shared with an organization with a polar opposite system in place. That'll convince everyone to correct this quickly.
