  1. I work for a company that organizes international trade shows. Basically we recruit US companies to participate in overseas trade shows where they can meet local buyers. Yea exports!
  2. Losing makes me cry Teddy was hung out to dry Giant rubber
  3. Anyone have any experience with the BLU unlocked phones? My phone is on its last legs and am looking at some cheaper options. They're available via Amazon and seem to have good reviews, plus are quite a bit cheaper than many of the big name phones.
  4. A 2nd is pretty much a 2nd, regardless of the year. I like that we got a 2017 because it gives us more chips in the future. We don't need more picks for 2015 or 2016. When 2017 rolls around and we need a rental, we can use that Minn. pick. It's all part of the plan.
  5. I can't wait until someone tries to compare him to Ryan Leaf.
  6. I've always loved what Kaleta has brought to the team and organization, but at this point he's probably the next HarborCenter/Academy of Hockey hiring.
  7. Yeah, I lived there for a few years when I was growing up (7th-9th grade)... can't say I miss anything about it....
  8. I think it's a fair deal. I like the potential of Armia and Lemieux, but you have to give quality to get quality. There are a few concerns with Kane, but he's a proven talent, as is Bogosian. The only proven talent the Sabres gave up was Myers. It was a steep price to pay, but that was to be expected. This is precisely why you stockpile picks and prospects - so you can make offers no other teams can, and no one would refuse.
  9. With 5 kids and 3 dogs, my wife and I swore off any of the new subdivisions because the yards were nil. We have 1/2 acre now and use every last millimeter of it. We were really surprised by this subdivision. The lot would be do-able on its own, but we have a large pond behind us and woods to one side of us, so it seems like a lot more than just 1/3 of acre.
  10. I liked the sales guy with Lennar much more than the girl I'm dealing with at Ryan, and seem to like their options/flexibility better as well, but since everything with this house was essentially picked for me, I'm getting a way better deal than if I was doing it from scratch with either. My new house with Ryan is essentially the same size as one of Lennar's models, with a bigger lot, for around $30K less. I will say this about both Ryan and Lennar, is that they don't shoehorn all the houses in there, they actually have yards, which you don't see much with many of the new subdivisions. I'll have 1/3 of an acre and the guy across from me has 1/2, both fairly uncommon around here. We looked at one house with Adams and it was literally no yard at all, just a small concrete slab and a bush.
  11. Ryan Homes. We sort of lucked into this one and didn't specifically choose them, but of the builders in our area, we seemed to like them the best along with Lennar and to a lesser extent Adams.. Eastwood homes and True Homes are the other two with communities in our town (20 mins west of Charlotte) and my wife's contractor uncle told us to avoid them at all cost. We had no intention of buying a new home, but the real estate market in our town, for what we need, is virtually non-existent. This house was 95% complete and after 4 months of construction the couple building it couldn't get their mortgage. The builder gave us a huge discount to walk in and take it off their hands, as they don't build/sell spec houses like some others do. So I really can't comment on how they are to work with through the design process, but we've been pleased so far.
  12. More love for Matt Ellis.... SabresBuzz @SabresBuzz ยท 11h11 hours ago Zemgus has high praise for Matt Ellis. "I love him. Seriously. He has tought me so much. I just watch him and learn"
  13. It's new construction, so luckily no real surprises to deal with on the inspection front, but there's always *something* that can go wrong....
  14. Just got approved for a mortgage on a new house. Hopefully in 30 days we will no longer be a family of 7 crammed into 1300 SF.
  15. Probably the only thing I miss from the two plus years I lived in Tampa... the Cuban food :(
  16. That's awesome. He was one of my favorite Sabres as a kid (I always went with the more obscure guys for some reason). I've asked for the book for Christmas, so we'll see if I get what I want.
  17. Not really. The promotion to VP came at my last review two years ago, and was accompanied by a 30% raise. I work for a small company, and the only person above me is the owner. He's approaching 60 (his self-appointed retirement age) in two years, and asked me what I wanted to stay on in the same capacity, to maybe see if I take over the company two years from now. I went into the review prepared for a 5% increase, but when he asked me what I wanted, I went higher and he agreed. Just last month we had reviews for two of my sales managers and I had to fight to get them a slightly less than 5% raise, so I was surprised he was amenable to my proposal.
  18. Had my two year review yesterday (I have biennial reviews as opposed to annual), and came out of it with an unexpected 20% raise!
  19. Going to sit down with my boss and have my two-year review on Monday. This will go one of two ways... I'll be real happy here for a long time (already going on year 7), or I'll know that it's time to bail and move on to something better.
  20. I only caught the tail end of his career, but how does Playfair have fewer votes than Ray?
  21. There's gotta be a joke in there somewhere....
  22. I think it's a matter of being fit enough to play if he was really needed, but with some extra D available and ready to go in Rochester, there was no point in rushing him. That said, if I was McCabe I'd rather collect the $$ and sit in Buffalo.
