  1. Today
  2. Crazy how much territory Trump gave Putin with the lifted sanctions and TACO ceasefires, almost as if it was planned. It was obviously by Putin, using Trumps delirious state his mind is in.
  3. Wars on won on the ground. Aerial superiority is a nice to have but still doesn't guarantee victory and neither side possesses that superiority. Russia has the planes and Ukraine has the drones. I do not think any NATO ground operation(s) would be contained to the current theatre of operations.
  4. Kulich Thompson Tuch Benson Norris Quinn Zucker McLeod Doan Greenway Krebs Malenstyn By the end of the season, I'm hoping Östlund or Helenius can step into a 2nd or 3rd line role and demote the vets down. Not likely to happen though.
  5. As long as they don’t get hurt, they can do whatever they want.
  6. Tuch is not a gritty two-way player. Thompson's success has been mostly as a center on an awful team. He needs to prove himself as a 200-foot winger who can still score. How he plays without the puck is the biggest question with him.
  7. Leschyshyn's son is nothing more than an AHL player.
  8. CB Tre White carted off today. Leg injury. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2025/08/21/tredavious-white-injury-at-bills-practice-what-it-could-mean/85762738007/
  9. I wasn’t convinced I was interested in McTavish because we need more experience in any upgrades. But now you’ve convinced me I don’t want McTavish regardless. We don’t have enough margin for error to expend assets for another Dylan Cozens.
  10. Don’t forget about taking on a retired Johnny Boychuk’s contract for future considerations,… JFC.
  11. Mason McTavish's name is on the market because he plays like Dylan Cozens and wants to be paid like Dylan Cozens, and Pat Verbeek doesn't want to repeat the mistake that was Dylan Cozens. By most measures, Owen Power has had a better career to date than McTavish. They are the same age and the same draft. Ryan McLeod had the same amount of points as McTavish last year and is much better in his own zone. I like McTavish, but thinking he's the solution to the Sabres problems seems a bit "grass is greener" to me.
  12. How is it not all F's? FAKE POLL!!!
  13. The way it makes sense is if Allen both likes and trusts him. We know he likes him. Does he trust him in crunch time to make the big catch? This kid doesn't trust him in that situation, but don't have a say in the matter. Personally, would rather they keep Shavers (even though his and Gabe's roles wouldn't be identical) if it came down to 1 or the other.
  14. They have worked long and hard for those rankings. Thank God everyone on staff got another year.🤢
  15. I like him too but I think they want a lot. I'd suspect if it involved top prospects they'd want Helenius plus. I like the idea of trading Byram but that would leave the D very thin again. I think the D even now falls apart really quickly with any sort of injury issues.
  16. That's my thought too. It's long overdue but encouraging all the same. You need to set that tone in your AHL team first imo if you want to build that forward into the NHL team. Most of these guys will never play in the NHL (or just limited action) but you want to have the work ethic and presence start there. You also want to win down there so that the guys coming up will bring that with them too. Also, most of these grittier AHL guys know they have to work hard for a shot and so they help build the culture.
  17. Game experience is the most important part. Sure maybe an older player can pick things up faster and adjust quicker but without NHL game experience, this isn't going to work. We are less experienced this year compared to last. That alone doesn't matter, but we are just inexperienced overall.
  18. Beating a dead horse, but "practice repititon" is the concern. Haven't been to a team practice since Krueger made TC a closed door affair. Have been to over well over 100 games since that time and have watched several 100 in that time frame. With that stated, if you do dumb things in practice, you'll do dumb things in games. They do dumb things in games and the people running practices are the same ones that ran them in the past. So, so, so truly wanted at least Wilford, Appert, and Ellis relieved of all duties.
  19. I bring this up because Nazar had 12g and 26pts in 53games this past season, his first, at 21yrs old.
  20. They did at times, but he was a winger in the playoffs and I believe more often during the season
  21. I was in the same boat with corporate life, and I was one of the exec's. I did not want to stain a good career so I moved on. Sounds like you are doing the right preparations.
  22. He pours water over his face like that every single day. So I ask him why he’s waterboarding himself. This time, he called his shot.
  23. I'm not sure if you are talking about Pegula or Golisano with the payroll cuts. When Golisano took over the Sabres in a bankruptcy setting the franchise was basically insolvent. The previous owner and his son ended up in jail due to intermingling the franchise money with his own money. The financial fraud was at such an egregious level that the feds got involved in an investigation that led to convictions and jail time. Let's not forget the context of the situation. Golisano took over an insolvent franchise and put it on a strict budget and required strict accounting recording. The chaotic financial books were relatively quickly straightened out by him. Did some staff have to be let go? Yes, he was dealing with a financial carcass where there was a negative cash flow. To his credit, he financially stabilized the franchise. And to his credit, he paid contractors that were stiffed by the previous owner and weren't required to be paid due to the bankruptcy rules. When asked why he paid the contractors when not legally obligated to do so: he simply said that it was the right thing to do. From a Sabre franchise historical perspective, I consider him to be a hero. Let's not forget what one of the primary reasons why Botterill was fired by Pegula. It was due to firing staff in the scouting department. Botterill refused to do so and was subsequently fired. (This is what I was originally referring to in my post on this topic.) https://www.nhlpa.com/news/2-22673/sabres-fire-gm-botterill-in-series-of-cost-cutting-moves
  24. It's the single worst secret on earth that the place is a crumbling and decrepit shithole and it was a very public example of that fact.
  25. The language that seems to be more and more common in public: -About a month ago, my wife and I were out to eat a quick-service mexican place (kinda like Chipotle but a local one). We sat in a booth, and right next to us 4 guys (probably 30-40 years old) sat down. No problem, no issue. I think they worked together...maybe security, maybe corrections, maybe even law enforcement. Again, no problem..yet. Then they started talking...one guy, its seemed like every single adjective and adverb was replaced by a version of f**k. When he talked it was something like..." It was f****n strange. I got out of my f*****n truck and I went him and the f*****n door wasn't locked so I f*****n pulled out my f*****n phone to call my wife, and she said everything was f****n OK she was just in the f*****n backyard." The guy wasn't mad, wasn't angry, but that is just how he talked, about everything. Now earlier this week it was a little cooler so we were out to eat again, this time we sat outside at a place on picnic tables, and the people next to us, probably a group of 5 or 6 poeple...mix of men and women probably 25-35 years old...and a different guy from above is talking the same way. Not angry, not talking about an emotional topic...just that is how he talked. And we are right outside on the sidewalk, there are families and little kids going by occasionally, but this is just how he talked. I'm noticing it more and more often in recent years. I guess we can complain about things about everyone, but this just seems....out of place and happening more and more often.
