I think you know I meant he is not going to be any better than he's already been. Ellis to me could be a Joey Daccord type. Late bloomer. 1 Quote
quill Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM I don't think UPL is clearly the #1 moving forward. He seems to have some of his best spurts, past and present, whenever he senses some new competition for him coming into the picture. Overall, though, he sometimes looks good, once in a brief while he looks very good, he never looks great. And often he doesn't look good at all. In a 3 goalie situation on a perpetual loser like we've been, if they can't figure out who is the best, who is the worst, or who is in between, then they might as well take the easy way out and make it about the money by picking the cheapest one to be the #1 for now. 1 Quote

A decision needs to be made on the backup. I don’t know about separating himself. Lyon did not play much in November after carrying the load prior to that. It’s hard to trust UPL based on this. Last year he was terrible, Reimer finished the season much better than UPL. Edited 21 hours ago by Pimlach 2 1 Quote

From Elliotte Friedman on Friday: “Luukkonen has asked to play more.” “You know, Luukkonen wanted to play more.” While I don’t have a problem with a guy wanting the crease, it’s weird to me that Friedman reported this while talking about the Sabres. Why is the player’s agent squawking to the media about playing time? What’s the motive? It’s just weird to me. It's just (another) red flag regarding Mega Meh (aka UPL) Slow hands, softies, and his 'tude' are prime reasons why I'd rather his gloomy gus a$$ be shipped off to ANYWHERE else!!! Seen enough. Had enough!!! Can't frigging stand him! Goodbye! Quote

Do you believe Levi is the best goalie in the Sabres system? Why? Also describe the "requisite roster moves" that would prevent the Sabres from losing assets? shrader Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Beyond the numbers, I think it has become clear over the last stretch of games that the team believes UPL is their #1. Quote

Carmel Corn Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago If Kevyn had the balls to strive for a much needed culture change, then IMHO it is clear he needs to move UPL out. UPL hasn’t been part of the solution for how many years now and I’d like to see his salary used for other talent. I’m not in the locker room, but what little I see tells me the guys like Lyon and Ellis more. Only the Sabres can keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again….in this case a 3 headed goalie monster. Quote

Other teams scouts attend Sabres games regularly. And you are calling the 3- goalie thing a repeated mistake. Are you saying claiming Ellis off waivers was a mistake? There is little doubt that the team considers UPL their #1 for now, at least until he starts sucking again. Then he'll be their #? and the vicious cycle returns. Quote
kas23 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago I really doubt this is “coming to an end”. I hope this post doesn’t age well, but there has been a zillion of things KA has “tried” but never come to be. The only way around this is to just waive one of them and I don’t think KA has that in him. Quote

I think it's more, Terry is getting PO'd about the cash hemorrhaging that his lap dog GM produces, and is forcing certain decisions, ala personnel, which IMO is a TERRIBLE way to manage a squad's "assets." And, around and around we go 😵💫 Quote

JoeSchmoe Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Who came up with the term three-headed monster? Does anyone else besides me find it kind of annoying? In my case, I once sat beside a guy who talked about it all game in the Levi, Comrie, UPL days, but I don't think I liked the term even before then. 1 Quote

When I think of the term 'three headed monster' I think of something scary in a dangerous kind of way...not a negative way. I don't like this one either but the saying "If you have 3 goalies, that means you don't have 1 (legit) goalie"...is more appropriate than 'three headed monster'. Any catchphrase that lasts more than a day or two, however, can get annoying. Quote
