Weave Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 It would appear that, once again, hope is a strategy in Buffalo. 1 Quote
Thorny Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 Didn’t even know Power was hurt. 1 right shot Dman. Excellent 1 Quote

ponokasabre Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 I bet Kozak goes down when Greenway is back Johnson/Bryson goes down when Power comes back likely Georgiev goes on waivers when Kesserling is back. Then when UPL comes back it will be a tough call, so many will say Geertsen goes down, but I dont think they do that. I do assume UPL is a long term thing here Quote
dudacek Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 (edited) Power on IR is unexpected. Gotta think he and/or Kesselring have to be close and this is prudent paperwork. Or are they really OK with being one undercooked piece of chicken from starting Mason Geertsen on D? Edited October 6 by dudacek 1 3 Quote
sabresouth Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 (edited) Yay, Bryson is back in the lineup. I know we're down two d men but still. And we have a silly goalie rotation yet again. How anyone can take ka seriously is beyond me Edited October 6 by sabresouth 1 1 1 Quote

There is only 6 defensemen listed on the roster so ya my thought is likely Power is good to go soon. And they will just kick the can down the road for sending someone down Likely they get Ellis in to practice on Wednesday, Power tests it and is G2G, then they make a corresponding move then. Likely Georgiev on waivers 4 minutes ago, LGR4GM said: Wonder what that Bernard-Docker guy is up to for no reason whatsoever. I will say its insane we didnt claim Thrun or Middleton just to come in and take a spot for a week or two Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 This roster is a joke. 14 forwards? 3 bad goalies. Only 6 D highlighted by Bryson and Johnson. 2 Quote

Gatorman0519 Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 Yikes. Will 85 points be considered an overachievement? Quote
DarthEbriate Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 I'm surprised Kozak hasn't been waived to Rochester yet. He's not a guy that should get claimed because every team has 1-2 Kozaks. But if a team is dealing with injuries, I could see it being 50/50 of losing him. He's not going to score but he does the little things right and is positionally sound. We saw how much calmer the bottom 6 looked when he was in the lineup last year vs., say, Lafferty. Quote
CallawaySabres Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 Man, this is going to be one crappy ride, ugh. That roster just screams come stomp on us. Quote

He’s the next shoe to drop. Probably as soon as Thursday when Power is cleared to play. The next one is the interesting piece; Who goes first when Greenway or Kesselring is ready: the 3rd goalie or the 8th defenceman? Edited October 6 by dudacek Quote
Eleven Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 They're going to dress three ***** goalies instead of two? Quote

Johnson won the #7 and personally, I'd keep Kozak as he can give you better, more versatile forward minutes as center or wing -- he's a Danforth type. I know Ruff loves Geertsen, but ... you have to dress him every game to actually be able to use him as a deterrent, and that's hardly likely because a 5-minute forward is almost useless in today's regular season games. (Florida/Tampa's silly exhibition over the weekend was exactly that -- an exhibition. They'll be civil in all the games that matter where their top lines are dressed.) Plus, Geertsen is hardly a deterrent -- Noesen won't be intimidated by him. They'll do a faceoff-based fight this season and that'll be the end of it. Quote

RangerDave Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 I wonder if it's too late for me to try out for the team? I'm in my 60's, can't skate, and have a strained knee, but maybe they need a 4th goalie? Quote

But I’m pretty sure Lindy Ruff does. I said in the summer that Geertsen was targeted - by Lindy - to be used in this specific role, I’ve seen nothing to change my mind. This is a coach who has already got - from his own mouth - three Swiss Army knives on the roster (Danforth, Krebs and McLeod). It’s a coach who likes to roll his top 9 hard and use his 4th liners situationally. And it’s a coach who sat Andrew Peters on the bench for 55 minutes a game, and played him 55 games a year. I’d say it’s less deterrent than it is response, but Geertsen is getting the final roster spot. Edited October 6 by dudacek 1 1 Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted October 7 Report Posted October 7 (edited) What is the vision for the roster? I get the injuries to Power and Kesselring jumbled the D group, but Lyon, Georgiev and Ellis in net? I understand the pick up of Ellis. His AHL numbers are very good and he wasn’t displacing Binnington but why keep Georgiev? What does Geersten bring? He hasn’t played in the NHL is 3-4 years. I like Kozak, but where does he fit? Edited Wednesday at 09:58 PM by GASabresIUFAN 1 Quote
