thewookie1 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago From a purely skill based view, I can see it; from a defensive angle its far more murky. 2 Quote

It was interesting to hear Lindy talk about Power and Kesselring. He essentially said Kesselring is on the verge of breaking out, Power needs to get where Kesselring is, implying Power needs to approach the game more like Kesselring does. I get the sense Power might be in line for some tough love this year Quote

PerreaultForever Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Adams lives in a delusional bubble of his own creation. The correct sentence should be "we have some elite skill and talent on our D corp. If some of them can gel and learn to use that skill we should be alright" 4 1 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago (edited) They have a 1OA, 1OA, 4OA, and they're most excited about Kesselring... a 5th round pick who was a 3rd pairing guy in Utah -- who played up in the lineup last year because of his team's injuries. But Kesselring spent the bulk of his time with Ian Cole, Sergachev, and Olli Maata -- three guys whose play in their own zone would place them #2 behind Dahlin on the Sabres blue line. Now, Kesselring has to elevate and cover for his partner, rather than the be the guy who is free to just play. (Unless he's paired with Dahlin.) It's an opportunity for Kesselring, for certain. But it's also very much a big pipe of hopium. Edited 19 hours ago by DarthEbriate 1 Quote

I think he plays passive, defensively, because he's not naturally aggressive and 22. IMHO, he shows much more confidence skating with the puck and offensively. My guess is he'll be worth the wait. I think turning 23, growing more into that big frame, maybe even getting married, a player can learn to take less crap. I don't think we're talking about someone that's terrible, we're talking about someone we hope realizes his potential. Edited 17 hours ago by 7+6=13 2 Quote

He does not move bodies or box out well around the net. Yes, he's fairly passive on D, but if he was tougher he could get away with that. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago (edited) For all the Power apologists Here are Power's stats in his 1st 3 full seasons vs another former D Sabres high draft pick. 108 pts (17g) in 234 games vs 106 pts (23g) in 239 games. Who is Power and who is the other former Sabres high draft pick D? By the way these were the 19, 20 and 21 year old seasons for both players. Once you figure it out, ask yourself how did that work our for the Sabres? Edited 12 hours ago by GASabresIUFAN Quote
