So, preseason squad 1 has all of the borderline F's (lines 3 - 5 and likely 6 but possibly 7 by ice time) and preseason squad 2 has all of the borderline D (pairings 3-5).  Interesting.  Also interesting that Rosen was the odd man out from the AHL scoring line with the other unit.

Definitely, but it can also unlock a young player too.  Functional strength to help protect the puck, win puck battles, and lay some lumber.  

Also while it can probably harm straight line speed and maybe acceleration, it likely also can contribute to some benefits to your conditioning in the 3rd periods and later in the season.

You're right. I miscounted: Byram, Power, Johnson and Bryson are the 4 lefties.

Maybe Mule is ready? That would balance things out over 5 pairs.
