Even EK thinks Sammy will get bought out:

Buffalo
Mattias Samuelson
He’s become a very injury-prone defenseman for Buffalo, but the guy is also 6 feet 4 and is only 25 years old. That’s a really young age to give up on a defenseman, but the Sabres just can’t deal with the $4.2 million cap hit… it will be very interesting when he finds a new home. Look to Vancouver and Minnesota….

this is his latest blurb

Imagine buying out a 25 year old D man you gave the A to the prior year?🤣

So Jason Botterill’s first move as a GM is sending mid-round picks for a middle-six winger from a cash-strapped team?

Shocked, yes, shocked I am.

He also dealt a 5th in this year’s draft for a 5th in 2032

Depends.  They could give him a 3 year bridge and STILL have his rights for 1 additional year at the end of that to give him a LT deal.  That would end up cheaper for each of the next 3 seasons than Robertson will be.

We can give him that too, Look worst part of being a sabres fan, is having to read all this ***** and made up stuff from (media and agents) of our team starting from beginning of may for 15 years.

Its normal, Agents need to promote their players, how  you make sure JJP doesn't get a TNT or Cozens 7 mill a year deal ? you start saying he wants out and contact 15 manager saying an 80 point player wants out of this team.

You are media, you have ***** all to take about except saying what you can get in return for a 80 point player.

And then us fans that are hoping for positive news, all ***** desperate as hell for something good.

Not the Sabres giving him the bridge, the Stars giving him the bridge.  The OP didn't see where bringing in Peterka saves Dallas any money.

Oh okay he'd probably be fine with that. I doubt Dallas would be overly interested in Peterka though. I think if you are trading him your targets are NY, NJ, Philly, maybe the Islanders. Ducks, maybe Boston or maybe try to entice Ottawa with a "he can play with Stutzle" pitch. Chicago might like him as a winger for Bedard too.

I wouldn't trade him to Ottawa barring Tkachuk being in the return; no interest in anything from NYR, Pittsburgh, Philly, Isles or aiding Boston.

Dallas might see some interest in Peterka as they could bridge him at 6mil

Well we will disagree on that. First let me say I liked Peterka from day 1 and I said early on I thought he would be better than Quinn from that so called kid line. I'd rather he was happy and was staying, but since the Sabres are the Sabres and if he has to go then I don't care about aiding other teams if you get a good return.

I would be interested in a NY trade that centered on Cuylle and Peterka as the main pieces. If it was Miller and Cuylle for Peterka I'm definitely doing it.

Miller is just Ristolainen 2.0 and I just don't trust Cuylle; he reminds me too much of Tanner Jeannot

Come on , Miller really dropped in play last 2 years, right now he is worth a 2nd round pick max, Cuylle I know nothing about that is a bad deal.

Let me say this again, JJP does not want out, its just journalist and Media throwing stuff around hoping it sticks.

and we could use Tanner Jeannot.

Point being we need to change the construction of the roster and the type of players we have to make a better rounded team. We do not need flashy perimeter players, we need grit and physicality to balance the perimeter shooters we already have.

I will believe that more if I hear Peterka say it.

Miller is most definitely less than ideal but he would fill a hole and it's a deep and glaring hole. Cuylle is a physical presence and I'd say 20 goal scorer where Peterka could be looked at as a 30 goal scorer. like every off season I want to add more physicality to the roster because as always I think it's a need. I do of course expect very little to happen that I will be happy with.

Have said MANY times, personally don't want Peterka traded.  BUT if he is going to be traded, bringing back a player that's actually better than him NOW would make it acceptable IMHO.  And Robertson IS a better player than Peterka NOW.

Will he still be better than him when the Sabres are actually ready to rejoin the NHL?  Wtf knows.  But if they decide to try to do that this year, the answer will be yes, he still is.

no trade had to play a role in this, we could have beaten that all day but he did had have a no move

And of course, in Seattle there are no income taxes and we can grow palm trees.

It’s becoming more obvious that there is no real plan and the only plan is Adams doing whatever whim Pegula mentions.

It will be interesting to see if Jarmo has any sway at all.

Because we hear nothing, we make up stores in a vacuum and convince ourselves it's what's happening.

There was "no plan" until Kiekäläinen was hired. 🙄

Relax. Things will get done. Other teams may have thought they could take advantage of Adams, especially with agents feeding journalists stories hoping to put pressure on the Sabres.

We have desirable assets and leverage. Eventually teams will come to the table with serious offers.

Ah yes like the “plans” for the past 5 years under Adams and for the past 14  years overall. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

You are changing the topic. You said the Sabres had no plan. Now you're saying they had plans that didn't work out. Pick a lane.

Adams definitely had a plan: to build a team through the draft with minimal free agent additions. He thought he had a team on the verge two years ago. He was wrong to stand pat.

Now we are going to see the Sabres reshuffle the deck, dealing players, picks and assets. Why do you think Kiekäläinen is here?

Will it work? Let's hope. But the Sabres have the chips to play with.

This is way too trusting and way too sanguine, given the team's history over the past 14+ years.

And it's more than a little patronizing.

Where does this blind allegiance come from? They have shown nothing that tells us they know what they are doing. In fact, they even admitted that there was no plan for Byram when they traded Mitts.

I’m relaxed, but only because it’s summer and they have made me just not GAF at all.
