Idk he got whacked down, so I tend to agree with the call

Yeah, pretty much.  The differentiator seems to be did the attacking player start out in the crease before contact was made by the D-man?  If the D-man makes contact w/ the attacker and doesn't clearly propel him away from the goalie; the goalie seems to become fair game.

If the attacker is already inside the crease, it's the opposite.  Even if the D-man pushes the attacker squarely into his goalie, the goal is almost always coming back for GI.

Walman has to realize he's up against Bennett who is going to take any opportunity that he'll give him to mess with Skinner.

And the amazing thing about that one is it pretty much resulted in the only other Swamp Cat that would have been guaranteed to have landed on Skinner were he in Bennett's spot on the 1st goal ending up being the scorer of the 2nd goal.

Imagine allowing your championship to be decided by a “puck over glass” call in an overtime format where the refs swallow their whistles for every other call. Absolute embarrassment of a league

The Oilers have 2 of the best 5 players on the planet and have assembled a solid, cohesive supporting cast around them. They understood the assignment. Only question is will Skinner hold up.

Obviously the series is far from over, but it is interesting to watch how the moment can draw performance out of players. Kapanan, Podkolzin, Walman, Klingberg, Connor Brown. All available to any team for peanuts (or less). All laying it on the line.

It's true...

But imagine leaving that call up to the refs to determine "intent" what a mess that could be.

Nosek just needs to be better there, the pressure wasn't that bad and he made a costly error.

But that’s my point. They are asked to incorporate subjectivity on every other penalty call they make: it’s not that the puck over glass call itself is bad, it’s that the rate at which they call the OTHER penalties (see:zero) drops so far, so that *one call* becomes a more egregious infraction than all the rest and the game essentially becomes a battle of “first to put it over the glass loses.”  Puck over glass call is fine if it’s not the only thing getting called but it is. It has crazy undo weight

They are incorporating a ton of arbitrary into the result by choice. “No no those infractions don’t matter…that one does though”

they are choosing which rules to enforce. Call it by the rules (heaven forbid) or swallow the whistles entirely

I too, wish that the game would be called the same throughout, I'm not sure when or why It became ok in OT to get away with stuff.

That delay of game call has been a good argument for years now. I think any change would just tick off the other half of fans lol.

The pace and physicality of this game so far just tells you how far away the Sabres really are.

Again ill never judge the difference based on playoff games. Players go a full 100% in the playoffs versus 75% to 85% in the regular season most nights

I suppose the sense of it is that if we are too young/emotionally fragile to handle the pressure of the race to get into the playoffs, we're unlikely to step up in the post-season. No doubt, there could be some surprises, but in general, I surmise we have been too young to expect the team to raise its level of compete sufficiently to not be embarrassed.

After such a prolonged wait, you'd like to be able to accomplish something once the team crosses the mythical border into playoff land. Anyway, the hope that players that are edgy, uncomfortable to play against, etc. will be part of the profile for who is drafted and brought in is a reflection of that judgment.

You would have seen glimpses. Moments. Individual games. We have not.

Then you must be purposely ignorant.

We have a handful of players whom have already played well in the playoffs with other teams.

Dahlin has most certainly shown up in big games, the Carolina game from the close year being a perfect example

Thompson shows flashes

We can't truly know until we actually make it.
