I respect Tom’s opinion, but I would be stunned if Stahl were named GM of any team in the next 3 years, and I can’t see KA and JK staying in their current roles for more than 1 year.

If Jarmo is ever the POHO he is going to want to hire his own GM and his own coaches.   If Adams finally gets canned Staal will probably leave.  

Adams has already "mastered" the Business Admin side of the Sabres.   I cannot see him going back there. 

Knowing Terry, the master plan is:  

-  Adams POHO

-  Jarmo GM

-  Lindy Exec Advisor, with Appert going to HC  (groan) 

-  Staal will find a role under Jarmo with Adams as his top cover 

-  Karmanos will leave once his contract is up unless he really likes working with Jarmo

Almost guaranteed what Pegula will do regardless of outcomes. No accountability at the top of Sabrehood

I just find it interesting the guff about Staal and we didn't hear anything (that I recall) about Reimer who also didn't wear one.

Jarmo makes suggestions that he believes would improve the team

Conflict arises from this situation as Pegula wants two voices

Karmanos is like "you have got to be kidding me" and is out

A power struggle ensues with Adams and Jarmo and Pegula has to sort it out... 

while he is pondering Jarmo resigns a la Fontaine takes another job

Adams is now POHO and GM 

Sabres are on year 15 without the playoffs 

and the situation has gotten so toxic that no professional hockey mind in their right senses will come here

If all that infighting happens and it turns out as bad as you predict then Adams will also get fired with the rest.  

I think this bridges Adams to another role, maybe  POHO, maybe back to the business side again.  And it gives Jarmo and Terry a year to get acquainted. 

No way would the real Punch agree to anything but full control of Hockey Ops.  That is also what brought Bowman to Buffalo, ownership made him GM and Coach, that was not happening on Montreal.

I just watched a documentary on Harold Ballard and the Leafs of the 70s and the part about bringing Punch back to be GM of the Leafs was not pretty. A lot of the players said he was out if touch and did a ton of damage to the team.

Indeed, the game may have passed him by, but the Leafs were just mediocre the year before he came back. They fell apart and then fled to the Norris division to deliberately get an easier go at it.  That also backfired.  

He was the last to win a Cup in Toronto.

I agree, I do think that if this structure fails Adams is probably gone... in fact I might say 1 foot out the door.. the question will be does Pegula relinquesh control and if he doesnt does Jarmo stay?

Jarmo doesn't thrill me. But I could actually see this scenario playing out with one change: I don't think Jarmo accepts Appert as his HC.  I think Adams likes Appert, and I think Appert is seen as a potential replacement for Ruff, but I don't think it's an etched in stone thing.  If we see Jarmo ascend to GM, I think he picks his own coach. I actually think that Lindy Ruff would be the sort of coach that Kekalainan would hire (which is not a positive for me).

I know he is 40 but Burns is a ufa who probably won’t be back in Carolina. Can still play. Put him with Power for a year. Not the perfect defensive D partner many want for Power but his experience would be invaluable and he is usually a plus player. The Patrick/Teppo of this generation😁
