Sabres interested in Marco Rossi

Sigh. Not happening but how about a Quinn / Samuelsson / Rosen for Rossi+?  He’s another dwarf (5’9”) but the Sabres could use a 60 point C as backup to Glass Norris.

I know why you say this with how the draft went down and how their careers have begun but Marco is much more of a certainty at this point and Mattias / Isak aren’t assets the Sabres need.

I'm just wondering why yet another 23 year-old who isn't a superstar or powerplay savant...    and hasn't shown any veteran grind, long playoff-run, relentless tenacity, holding-others-accountable, being a punk to play against, angst-at-the-world fervor makes sense for this roster at forward.

Ok I will elaborate ... the title said the "Sabres interested in Marco Rossi..."  my response was Yes I am interested in Carrie Underwood too...  the dripping sarcastic innuendo is that they have as much likelihood in getting Marco Rossi as I do Carrie Underwood...  essentially saying, I dont believe us getting Marco Rossi is likely to happen.

Is this a player that we SHOULD covet or pass on?

Could we see a RFA for RFA deal brewing (BB for MR) and some other pieces mixed in?

And lineup Benson-Rossi to take the opening face off of next season.😛. Minny want a bigger centre. I would offer broken Norris for him in a heartbeat. I have no faith Norris plays regularly next season.

I think he’s a good player he just always seems injured.  If he can stay healthy great but IDK.  If they could acquire Rossi with other pieces and go:

Norris is so talented. Remember everyone thought Byram was injury prone and then he plays 82 games for us this year, I know his injury history is a risk, but he is an extremely talented player that once people start to see what he brings, no one will be upset with that trade anymore

Now i thought Rossi had high end compete and was labeled as a poop disturber coming into his draft year? Am i not correct on this?

 

I dont exactly remember all I know I was screaming Rossi at the tv when we picked Quinn

200' player, engaged defensively, and ever around-the-puck -- yes, yes, and yes. Stirrer and pest making life miserable for opponents and getting under their skin? No. Theoren Fleury, Esa Tikkanen, Marchand he was and is not.

Here's the thing, you trade for Rossi, Rosen and Östlund are basically redundant pieces here now. Rosen already is but, and ik some of you will be shocked, you can't run a forward group of 5'11" forwards. It's just not gonna work. 

You can fit Rossi and Benson on the roster and Helenius has a chance but adding Östlund and Rosen... meh.

Samuelson, with that contract and injury history, is untradeable. Would you want him? Long term commitment to a guy who will be available half the time and soft as a marshmallow the rest of the time.

I'm in agreement.  I'm not saying he has no value, but I don't think he can be traded.  We'd have to give up picks and or prospects to get someone to take on his contract, IMO
