They are not taking advantage of their unique cap position which will lessen as the cap stops being artificially depressed. Seeing as this young crop of Sabres roster is just now entering the infancy of its compete stage, meaning playoff hunt and season sustainability with growth, what's the view 3 years out, when the core is seasoned and McDavids contract will be up? Maybe , just maybe, Adams doesn’t want to give up his next 2 first round picks for a winger. Maybe he sees a bigger position of need ?
