Apparently I've zoomed right ahead to acceptance — or I'm in a form of bargaining (God, make Rick reconsider after the season or at least agree to do any Cup-clinching games in the future, assuming vital signs allow).

Anywho... I'm not sure. Chicago seems like a good fit on a Friday with the assurance of a decent crowd that will be Rick-friendly, even if they're in Hawks sweaters.

Philly works as well.

I hope it's sold out. And raucous for Rick.

Why would, except for health reasons, it be anything but the Chicago game closing out the regular season?

The game is at home & it is "fan appreciation night" (yeah, right, appreciation <_<).

That is typically a fun atmosphere regardless how awful the season has gone; wouldn't expect any other night for him to "drop the mic."

I added a very necessary choice.

Maybe because Dan is calling more home games than he is. It's not a no-brainer. I don't see why Rick would necessarily get the last game.

I'm counting on your bolded. Assuming the Sabres have some playoff runs in the next couple of years, I have to hope Rick would be open to multiple guest appearances.

And to that end- that recent game when Jim Lorentz dropped by was magical.

Care to make a charity bet about the bolded?

And your additional poll question doesn't make sense logically - he's announced hundreds of games since the Sabres last playoff game.  😉

Seems like thousands.

And I wouldn't bet against the Hawks game, assuming no playoffs. I have no horse in this race.

I'm starting to feel the Flyers game. Would Rick himself rather close with Philly, which has some obvious historic appropriateness, or Chicago? (The Isles game works for this angle, too, given the early playoff matchups between the teams.) Also, assuming there's going to be a whole night devoted to Rick, how would that work on Fan Appreciation Night?

PHILLY! And I'm suddenly so confident, I will wager that bet with @Taro T. (The charity is my account at The Hair Club for "Men.")

I'm hoping he's back for the playoffs whenever that happens, even before a potential final

Really hoping that after his "last game" he works out a deal with the Sabres to still call the home opener & fan appreciation night in the future.  Will keep him alive longer.  Really believe that he is his work & when he doesn't have anymore to look forward to ...
