Risto(50%) for Tuch

Hmmm and a 3rd coming back if the Sabres are going to go D no 1.  Itll depend but Risto is top 4 D, Tuch is not top six on O.

You aren't getting Tuch for Risto but if you really want to shake up the team and try and win starting next year you do our 1st and Okposo for Fleury, Tuck, their 1st and NJ #2. Trade Boston's #2 for Miles Wood and you have a lineup of

  • Skinner-Jack-Samson
  • Tuch-Cozens-R2
  • Wood-Mitts-Tage
  • Girgs-Asplund-Olofsson
  • Dahlin-Joker
  • McCabe-Risto
  • Bryson-Borgen
  • Fleury & Ullmark

No changes were looking at

 Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart

Thompson-Mittelstadt-Bjork

Ruotsolainen-Cozens-Oloffson

Girgensons-Asplund-Okposo

Eakin (scratch)

I only look to get a 4th line winger to PK like Rieder.  Too many China dolls perpetually injured in this line up and not many rookies left to take a spot quite yet

Reinhart not signing can be replaced by Oloffson, meaning we only need to find a 2nd/3rd liner level replacement.  Will be an interesting trade if forced.

This team feels very skilled and not heavy.  I worry about that after a few years of first round exits.  There’s skill and shooters throughout it may just work

Anyone we lose is easily replaced. I protect Bjork over guys like Asplund.

Off season needs to make sure we get a goalie

I'm not trading a Top 5 pick for that. If Vegas likes Risto, I could see them trade Tuch (their 3rd liner) for him.

The results of the last 3 Bruins games gives me more hope for the kids but also makes me realize that moving on from Eakin and KO is a necessity. I also think  R2 is done with the minors.

Eakin needs to be sent to the AHL and KO needs to be the 13th forward.  This opens up two slots to add more jam and/or scoring to this current group while giving us the possibility of rolling 4 lines and moving Skinner off Jacks wing if the coaches are interested.

I think Mitts is earning a permanent job as the 2/3c for next season.  Reinhart also looks very comfortable at center.  Honestly the greater responsibility has elevated his game.  That said Cozens looks fine there as well,  however Jack is clearly better then them all.  Finally a deep and talented Center group regardless of how they lineup.

The next question is do we protect Bjork or Asplund.  My guess is Bjork.  If that is the case, Seattle grabs Asplund.

Olofsson Jack Cozens

Skinner Reinhart ????

R2 Mitts Thompson

Girgensons  ????? Bjork

KO

Now how do we find the 2RW with jam and scoring ability?

No way they choose  Bjork over Asplund but I don’t think they lose either.

So what is your answer as to Jeff Skinner going forward?

Let's have Terry pay a bookie $40k to dig up dirt on him. That'll cause the league to ban Terry for 2 years. Then we'll be able to trade Skinner to the Angels. Unfortunately, Skinner will win a World Series 2 years later with the Jays. Fortunately it will allow the Sabres to be managed free of Terry for the time he's suspended, allowing us to build the framework to become a 4 time champion in the next decade.

Tuch is a 24 year old currently pacing out at 31 goals. You have to get a little better at giving up value in your mock trades.

what do do you guys think?

Slam dunk do it.  Anyone who wouldn’t needs to look at the bigger picture.

Risto for one season or Tuch for 5?

Also, Tuch is having his best season (31 goal, 53 point pace!).  There is no way this makes sense for Vegas.  Buffalo would need to add.

Yeah, I don’t think this lineup would need to worry about exiting the playoffs in first round.  Especially not if Reinhart is moved and backfilled with a 2/3rd line winger.

Does anyone think the Sabres can convince Barclay Goodrow and Blake Coleman to sign here next season?

Are they due big raises? Would the contracts be prohibitive?

Fresh off another deep playoff run they would be perfect for this lineup IMO.

They can guide the kids on the path to the playoffs while providing some much needed toughness.

I think we could probably convince one or both if we overpay a bit for two guys who don’t really produce much though I hope if we’re going to add the bar is set a little higher.

I’m looking more for the specific qualities these guys bring than adding “talent.”

Like when we added Frolic for his PK qualities or Simmonds for his toughness qualities?

We should sign a veteran but one that can produce.

These two would be the FA targets. Coming off of two playoff runs on a great team like Tampa, they would be invaluable.

I'd love it if they could shake someone loose because of the unique combo of flat cap and expansion draft in trade.

I'm not ready to name names but if a team like Anaheim for example needed to trade Rakell, well I'm making an offer.

Coleman has all around game, he's not a one trick pony

I’m not advocating signing bad hockey players 😜

I am not talking about adding specialists. I am talking about adding a middle six player who can produce and never stops grinding.

We should not be using our resources for more players who play like Sam Reinhart or Victor Olofsson. That’s not a shot at either player, or a suggestion to get rid of either player. It’s an acknowledgment that good hockey teams carry a variety of skill sets, and our forwards are weighted toward a specific type and are lacking in others.

I’m in for Goodrow, not a big producer but he plays all three forward positions and is good on the PK. He is physical and will drop the gloves if required.

Cheap addition with a good resume.
