The assault charges against Semyon Varlamov ARE being filed. He faced up to two years in a county jail if convicted. The kidnapping charges have been dropped due to lack of proof. He is expected to appear in court in early December.

It is a third degree assault charge. If he is convicted, he also faces potential deportation.

If he goes to jail or gets deported I wonder if Roy will want an aging veteran gt. Too early to tell.

Prediction: a small (for a pro athlete) fine, and 1-2 years probation.

That shop sailed a long time ago.

Colorado is still a good fit for Miller though.

He's the best of their forwards that would be even remotely tradable. Assuming that a) they still have bad blood with him over the year it takes until he can be traded (doubtful) and b) Varlomov get's an actual punishment and not a professional athlete punishment,

Pretty sure all parties are over that whole thing.

Home teams get the calls:

http://vizual-statis...tions-about-the

There are, of course, several causes besides home-team favoritism that could explain some of these differences. NFL away teams are probably more likely to make false start/encroachment/offsides penalties due to crowd noise. NHL away teams get second change, so they are more likely to have a bad matchup, which would lead to them taking more penalties.

No one said anything about favoritism yet. There's travel fatigue, eating on the road, etc., too. But there's also probably some home team favoritism in there.

Andrej Sekera scored his CAREER HIGH fifth goal of the season today for the Hurricanes.

Now tied for the team lead with Eric Staal and Nathan Gerbe.

Zach Kassian scored his fifth of the season last night for the Canucks.

Thomas Vanek has his 6th point in 8 games for the Islanders tonight.

Jason Pominville is 13g 4a 17pts in 24 games for the Wild. 18 points away from #500.

Not one of those stat numbers impress me.

Each of those players are playing in different environments. None of them has the ability to truly lead on their own, which is what Buffalo needs. Regardless of their personal stats season wise, Buffalo needs elite game changers, not support players in line ups with elite talent.

Buffalo needs a lot more than a leader. And nobody in this league leads on their own.

It's irrelevant what players do elsewhere, though. I don't take numbers of guys with other teams as a negative. Different situations, different minutes. No toxic environment = obvious chance to flourish. A guy like Pominville is showing his true potential when not asked to do everything. Fun to see.
