Things that are AWESOME...

Is that going to be visible everywhere? I've never witnessed a meteor shower before, and I think it would just be awesome to see.

you should have no problem seeing it out your way. just get as far away from any lights as you can, bring a lawn chair, snacks, drinks ... camera, if that's your thing, and enjoy the show.

oh. obvs that clouds will ruin it all.

Note that I think this one is looking like 50-100/hr (depending on who you read), so it's not going to be 4th of July up there, just the occaisional shooting star.

50-100 is nothing to sneeze at as far as meteor showers go. average showers have between 15-30. this is supposedly one of the strongest meteor showers for the next several years.

though to be fair, no--it's not going to have 150-200. i can't remember which shower it was, but several years ago, it was ridiculous. if you blinked, you likely missed a couple. THAT was a good meteor shower.

It's still something I've always wanted to see. Me and the girlfriend are going to be in Buffalo for a wedding, so after the reception and what not, her and I can go sit and watch this for a bit.

if you can get north east of lockport, you should be fine. head out towards the lake somewhere, and you'll be far enough away from city lights that you'll have a hell of a show.

Ya know what I'm finding awesome lately,.. all these people I know who thought Facebook was so great because it put them back in touch with so many people from their past, only to find out now that there was a reason they lost touch with them in the first place. Listening to their Facebook FaceoffsTM put me right back in middle school.

Ok. My photographer friend Viktoria is traveling from Buffalo to Alaska (and back) by car, with her handicapped dog, Moose, a tent, a shotgun, and her camera. Here's day three of her travels: http://viktoriaciostek.com/home/day3/

If you love dogs (I don't), love landscape photography (I do), or both, well, shameless plug for her Kickstarter campaign:
