  1. i think it's the bills' way of waving the middle finger way up in the air to not just the jets, but all jets' fans. i don't like the pick-up for him actually playing, but the fact that the bills had the balls to pick him up after he *just* got released for taking out their supposing starting QB is just ... there's some large sense of satisfaction in the bills' ZFG mentality. i really kinda like it.
  2. i was kind of on the fence about oduya. would have been sort of nice. but at 34, there are better options for us.
  3. Except that you're forgetting that the Habs just picked up the almighty Zach Kassian. That's a pretty big deal, right there. On a related note, I see that Hodgson was signed by the Preds. Alright ....
  4. yah, the more i see what deals are being accomplished, the more i wonder if the silence *is* due to contract length being required. green is *terribly* old, but a 3 year deal makes him 32 when his contract is up ... and with all the young talent we have, at 6M/year, it's ... dumb. i dunno. whatever. others have already said it, but we made our splash on friday. if we do nothing with FA, i'll be slightly disappointed, but i won't cry.
  5. is it just me, or are the sabres being pretty quiet? i get that we're only 3.5+ hours in, but the list of quality players is dwindling.
  6. We were at a local amusement park on my company's dime when draft time rolled around. Installed the NBC LIve extra app specifically to watch the first part of the draft. Watched Murray proclaim the pick, listened to some intereviewy stuff, then watched Bettmann approach the podium. And then I screamed like a girl when he said that the Sabres had just acquired ROR. Literally screamed. EVERYone around me looked at me like I should be pulling a dead, blue child out of the wave pool, and instead, I'm sitting there with this sh**-eating grin on my face, staring at my phone. I leaned over and kissed my wife and said, "We're going to the playoffs next year. Almost a guarantee. Free agency's coming next week, and if we do well there, it's a done deal." She couldn't have cared less. Oh well. She makes up for it in spades elsewhere. :)
  7. We're taking the whole fam to Rush out here in July. I've been trying *super* hard to avoid set lists, but I know a couple of songs that have been played. Based upon those, I'm hoping that the set list holds for our show. Specifically, Jacob's Ladder. That's been in my top 5 Rush songs since the late 80s.
  8. In an ideal world, they *won't* keep their rights and it will go to someone who can actually cover the games. Not just some of them--ALL OF THEM. and not on cable. this whole thing of maybe showing a couple handful of games on NBC during the first 3 rounds is stupid.
  9. being the geeks that we are, and having the friends that we have, we took a different twist on the war-memorial day. yesterday marked the 38th anniversary of the premiere of star wars. that being the case, we had a star wars marathon. managed to watch eps 1-4 (the original intent was to watch eps 1-6, but with six kids ages 10 and under (four of which are 7 and under), the attention span just wasn't there, so we ended up taking a lot of breaks between movies. which is fine. the point was just to get together with some old friends and hang out, so mission accomplished there.
  10. liar. :) oh i get it. but seriously ... babcock coming to buffalo would be one of the greatest signings of all time for us. all i can to is refresh twitter and listen to GR. work?? pffft. there will be none of that today.
  11. are anyone else's palms sweaty? anyone else not able to eat breakfast? or work? or ... whatever?
  12. if they weren't grey before, i'm betting they are now ...
  13. after the last earthquake, mount everest is actually one inch shorter than it was before. that region is due for some major quakes, as neuvichs pointed out. two plates banging into each other ... there's gonna be some new formations. what terrifies me is the yellowstone caldera that blows every 600,000 years. the last time it blew? about 600,000 years ago ...
  14. See, this just isn't news to me. Do any of us really think that everyone in the locker room *wasn't* in the know for this?
