It doesn't need a nickname, as the acronym suits it just fine. I like the cold, warm, hot carl/karl progression of glass, saran wrap, and skin contact. It works well. Plus if you're going to describe the saran wrap version as the hot carl/karl then what would you describe the direct skin contact version? It doesn't make any sense logically. Glass = cold because the recipient doesn't feel that steamy log. Warm = saran wrap because it absorbs some of the blow. Hot = full speed ahead and direct contact with that hot, steamy log. I wish I could carry some optimism across town to One Bills Drive, but from the looks of it, there won't be much this year. Just waiting for hockey season to come back along with my pride... This place got real boring real quick without Dwight around to entertain. So, what's left of Team Stormcloud now that Dwight and PA aren't posting? DeLuca becomes defacto team captain but who are the other concensus members? I assumed SwampD was in that crowd. I guess I got lumped in there. Who else? There will always be plenty of entertainment, but without hockey and with all the optimism there just isn't much to keep a hockey related forum alive. Sure, he's a good fit for the 'A' but I don't know that he's really got that top line talent that you'd like in a 'C' and the ability to rally the troops when the chips are down. You could probably wear the 'C' but you are still fairly new to the team and you have a tendancy to come back from the edge a bit too often to really 'lead them over the cliff' so to speak. I think you guys are going to have to go w/ a rotating 'C' now that PA and DD don't appear to be available. Though it will make for some uneven leadership, it does have the advantage of letting PA &/or DD resume their rightful spot should they return. You might have a good point. I definitely see him as a good lockerroom guy, which is why I'd give him an 'A'. But I see him as more of an older Goose. He plays an important position and can be relied on for manning up to the dirty jobs no one else wants to do, but just doesn't have the wheels or hands to be a top liner. When the game is on the line, you'd want to see the captain out there, I'm not sure that I'd have him out there for that final shift of the night when you've got to score. But a captain KNOWS his teammates. Add in a penchant for reasonableness, sometimes even when it isn't warranted, and I just don't know that you've got the total package to captain this crew. (Truthfully, I see you more of either a Mike Grier or James Patrick. You bring leadership and can show the rooks what it takes to make it in the bigs, but I just see you in more of a teaching/ respected veteran role than that of a captain. Sorry.) And it would definitely be awkward at 1st. GoDD combines those views with an excellent albeit frequently pornographic sense of humor. It was the humor that livened up the board, especially during the summer dog days. Up to you, of course, but this seems a bit overstated to me (not least because you used the phrase "patently false and/or unsupportable and/or completely fabricated" twice in a 3-line post). Did GoDD stir the pot? Absolutely. But the questions he raised about Kaleta's uncle getting the contract to build the rink were not from outer space, nor were the statements about Lindy being over-aggressive in the episode with Adam. Could a thorough review of the facts completely exonerate the Kaletas? Should GoDD have undertaken a review like that before he started slinging allegations around? Could people have been offended by GoDD's comparison of Lindy with a pedophile? Absolutely, on all counts. But the underlying positions weren't, IMHO, totally whacked-out conspiracy theories like some that have been thrown around here.
