New goal song (old White thread)

1. The Native Americans would demand we build them a casino in the lobby of the HSBC in exchange for their blessing.

2. The Iroquois Federation native to the Buffalo area never saw a bison. There were woods bison at one time, but they were mostly confined to the fringes of the Great Plains.

I understand where you are going with this, but the correlation is more strained than the throat of the sword swallower who wrote the swords of 1,000 men.

Plains bison were certainly present in WNY at one time in history, certainly when the natives were here as well.

woods bison are in NW canada, and were never really a part of the US. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ca/Bison_original_range_map.svg

I love it. Now we have a debate about the centuries old history of the bison. Some good comes of an atrocious song after all!

I really like the offseason song contest idea. It would keep interest in the sabres year round and sort of gives us something that we can call our own. Posters upthread have been calling for something "organic" - wouldn't selecting something from the local choices in a long summer long process be about as organic as we can get without something just dropping into our laps?

I'm glad swords died out. felt too much like something management and JWhite was shoving down our throats and saying - "everyone like this cause it has swords..."

I never submitted it but I suppose someone should. We have so many bands playing clubs and other things that are probably pretty good. We should petition Black for the "Sabres Summer Score Song" lol say it five times fast.

I say we use this song. The guy who makes the video did so for the fun of it. He's a laxer(lacrosse player) from the west coast. His name is Connor Martin and goes by the moniker Con Bro Chill. I heard this song at a local USHL team's arena the last time I was there. They use it when they score a goal, and it has good bass and good rhythm, not to mention the impressive use of duct tape . Let me know what ya think.... **Technical Difficulties**

the :44 mark of this footage prompts me to revisit the matter of a goal song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSfomB6LGYU

whatever that techno song is - too lazy to google it - it's not unique to the bruins - it's a stadium song used by many teams in several leagues.

point being (i think), we don't have to have a song that's unique (a la chicago) - but we do need a song that allows for that sort of crowd sing-along. i always thought that the "woo hoo!" song (whatever it was called) fit that bill well enough (but we can do better, i am sure). but i also think the "hoorah hoorah hoorah yay!" could work as well.

... i clearly need july 1 to arrive. :bag:

Honestly I like using Song 2. It just works for a town that never left the 90s.

We used this at RIT this past season and it went over well with the crowd.

Ooof!! I was at the Monroe County Sting game this weekend and they blared that over the intercom after every whistle.

That's just too much. We used it sparingly, such as if we were up by a substantial margin or for an empty net goal or a really big goal. Not more than twice a game.

Once in a while it'd get caught on a long stoppage and when Luda raps about strippers booties it got a good laugh haha

I know it doesn't have that uber gay sing along quality the Goos "Long Way Down" seems like a pretty natural fit.

ideally, they'd find a goos' song, stick with it, and make it work. or maybe some rick james. or ani difranco.

i think i take your meaning on the uber gay sing along quality -- i think whatever song ends up working (if one does), it will have that quality in fair abundance.

that's "woo-hoo", i take it. it did work for me - i especially liked it when they still had license to use satanic imagery on the scoreboard for a goal by miro (i think he must've told them to stop it - i also infer that he told RJ to stop with the "devil did it again")).

that's fun. but i don't see it working at the arena. chet and muffy, and all.

Aye on the Chet and Muffy thing. Although a lot of adults and children do come to RIT games.

Yup, the Woohoo song is Song 2 by Blur. And I think it's our best option. If it ain't broke don't fix it ya know?

Or this:

I'm half serious.

I'm jujst glad that Lady Gaga, with her horde of dead-cat-wearing brainless minions, hasn't written a song with the word "sword" or "sabre" in it or we'd all be clamoring for the Sabres to pick it. My vote goes to the old school, "Mama said Knock you OUT!" So, the team scores, they play the song, and all the fans of the other team in the arena get beat up. I like it.

Considering the makeup of the team wouldn't Oliva Newton-John's "Let's Get Physical" be more appropriate? Or, the "Safety Dance?"

I kinda like that.

Also, as for Lady Gaga, sorry but she's getting closer...
