LabattBlue Posted June 6 Author Report Posted June 6 Pegula has ruined my hockey fandom. Haven’t watched much of the playoffs, and don’t really care about watching the finals. Thanks you f’ing buffoon. Quote
LabattBlue Posted June 6 Author Report Posted June 6 One last complaint for the day. People with “fake” service dogs SUCK. You ruin things for people with legit service dogs. Was out for breakfast today, and guy with alleged service dog gets up to leave and dog starts barking like crazy. 😡 Quote

Service dogs are nothing if not conscientious to fellow servers. 😉 Quote

LGR4GM Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Needed a new umbrella base, old one was just getting kinda gross and we got a bigger umbrella. I wanted something heavier cuz it is windy. Both lowes and home depot succcccckkkkk. They have a crappy and limited in store selection. The only one weighted enough was absurdly priced. Finally the employee help... I get it you have a smart phone but I can look it up on my phone, so no you doing it isn't helpful. Instead of going and leaving with a stand I got the pleasure of ordering it and now I get to wait 3-5 days which is a weak complaint but you're a giant box store and you only have 3 models, in the entire place, everything else is online? So annoying. Quote
mjd1001 Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 (edited) Emotional drivers. We were coming back home from Boston last week and at one point on the Thruway there was a line of vehicles in the right lane going really slow (maybe 10mph under the speed limit, it was led by a slow truck). It took me a while to change lanes to the passing lane, because a lot of people behind me got over there before I could. So I'm patient, wait for an opening, and then when no one is left behind me, I move to the right lane. There was a woman in a small SUV that was WAY behind us, but she had to be going 80-85+ mph. She came up behind me. Now, I'm back up to speed, passing the slow left lane vehicles at a pretty good rate, but this woman starts tailgating us as I'm certainly not going 85, waiving her hands, and eventually she got to the flashing the headlights. I'm not holding up the right lane, I did not come close to cutting her off. I'm passing pretty quickly the 5 or 6 cars and trucks going under the speed limit in the right lane. I just don't want to drive well over 80mph like her, so how does that cause her to act like she does? On a side note, the Mohawk valley visitors center....NY state get your stuff together. The new WNY visitors center on Grand Island has people working there selling food and drinks, a mini-market area called 'taste ny' filled with NY state food and products, a large area to sit in, and clean bathrooms. The Mohawk valley one? Its not that much older, its tiny, it has 3 ev chargers all out of order, bathrooms that haven't been cleaned in a while (when we got there), and their 'taste NY' area is a few vending machines. Night Train Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Watching the BBC yesterday and they did a piece on companies in America paying people to protest. So bizarre. They show up and are given signs to carry and shirts to wear. Nice to know we have a lot of folks with too much free time that stand for nothing. Quote
LabattBlue Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 (edited) Canalside! Do things ever move quickly in WNY? Aud was demolished over 15 years ago. The front half of the Aud footprint is still a big hole in the ground, and part of the back half is the steel frame of some retail/housing that has sat dormant for a couple of years thanks to a developer with no money(Sinatra) and a NYS agency(ECDHC) that doesn’t have the balls to yank the project away from him. 😡😡😡 Edited June 12 by LabattBlue Quote

We just got back from Boston. Not exactly a city known for getting things done quickly..but the Seaport District...Its basically a brand new small city that has been build in the past 10-or-so years. All glass office towers, luxury apartments. Probably 15-20 (at least) 20+ floor buildings. Luxury apartments. Artwork and fountains along the street. Movie theaters, all kinds of restaurants, rooftop bars, brand new hotels, even some brand new subway stations (although its more of an underground electric bus). Yeah, I know Boston is bigger, but again, its not a city people are rushing to move to. And they took basically a bunch of abandoned warehouses and parking lots and turned it into a shiny new city about the same time, or less, than Canalside has been developed. Quote
Weave Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 (edited) We are Aldi shoppers. Where we live its the most reliable game in town. In years past we would buy the bulk of our groceries at Aldi, but we bought our meat and some fancy things from other sources. The quality of the other source we used for meat slipped a good bit so we started buying more and more meat from Aldi. We’ve had mostly pretty good experiences. Not great experiences, certainly nothing to brag about, but decent enough for weekday. The Aldi grass fed skirt steak I cooked today was probably the worst steak I have ever attempted to eat. It was rubber at medium rare. Not hard to chew. Completely incapable of being chewed. I do not believe I have ever experienced steak this tough and unchewable. I didn’t even give it to the dog. And yes, I do know to slice this cut thin across the grain. It didn’t matter. In fairness, we have bought alot of skirt steaks from Aldi. A few have been a little tougher than I want. Most have been pretty OK. OK enough that we keep going back to the well. This one, though, will definitely have me looking sideways at the skirt steaks for quite awhile. Yeah, first world problems Edited June 12 by Weave Quote

Twitter as a place to get information (subscribe to people who put out news, not to interact with them). But my big problem with social media is the interaction. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a place to share ideas. But alas, instead its a megaphone for people to blast their opinion and shout down anyone who doesn't agree with them....with a side of them making not-so-funny jokes as a way to make themselves look clever. Then again, this very message forum is kinda of a cousin to social media (or maybe a precursor.) Quote
