Want to know why? Because that list is just the order in which they were selected, with Girgensens and Grigorenko switched, and a goalie tossed on for fun. RISTOLAINEN 8 GIRGENSENS 14 ZADOROV 16 GRIGORENKO 12 ARMIA 16 PYSYK 23 COMPHER 35 MCCABE 44 LARSSON 56 ULLMARK 163 connor Hurley and Justin Bailey are "missing," but probably because it's too early to tell for them compared to a seasoned Larssons.

Risto better than Z? Maybe, maybe not. Compher already better than McCabe? Giddyup.

Overtime's not a bad option, but Calgary winning is better. Calgary's a little closer to us in the standings, so we could use some more buffer, and it's in our interest to see the NYI sucks both this year and next to maximize that 1st rounder in any possible circumstance. We want Calgary to pick up two points, which will give both the Flames and Panthers an opportunity to surpass the Islanders.

"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition

I trust Bob's insight. This could get cray cray pretty quick here at the deadline. "Buffalo, you select 1st overall and you're on the clock for the next hour and a half with the next 20-something odd picks." -
The idea itself may being nothing new, but it may be telling a story between the lines if a journalist with real sources proclaims that there's continuing discussion. For instance, that might indicate an unpublicized change in the Wild's perception of how Josh Harding battle with MS is going. If the Wild think Harding's out and Backstrom's struggling, the Wild may not want to rely on Kuemper alone for a playoff push. That would fuel trade talk.

I live in the American Mecca of Mexican food, with everything from taco trucks to expensive Mexican restaurants for as far as the eye can see. But I would shiv five of my coworkers just to get a Beef and Cheese Burrito from Mighty. Mighty Taco isn't Mexican food. It's Mighty Taco.

Re: Callahan for $Texas. Why not? We're likely dumping Leino, so he'll be off the books. And if we're going to waste money, let's gamble it on someone who may or may not be the second coming of Chris Drury. It'll also make Drew Stafford even more expendable. Additionally, examining why the Oilers suck fat ######, it's not just their lack of defensemen. They have a distinct lack of veteran leadership on that team. I get why we'd want to stock up a few character guys to lead the youngin's into battle for the next few years. It's the same reasoning for why you'd want to keep Steve Ott around. I understand the counter argument: cap space is an asset, especially 4-6 years down the road. But you're getting veteran leadership and goal scoring from a Rochester, NY guy who had played for the Buffalo Jr Sabres. He could end up being the captain his entire time here.

Apparently I have walked into a Mighty Taco jihad. I will now concede, realizing that further arguing will only make me hungrier for things I don't want to pay the shipping for.

Fo shizzle. There's no science or engineering problem in hockey that can't be solved. I think we're both right. Wiki: So I guess their job is "if puck crosses line, then turn on light." But, and I think everyone knew this, it's the ref's job to determine that it was a good goal. Or the Toronto Secret Police, or the Gary Bettman Gestapo, or whatever. -

Sure. Tech like that exists. But there is some level of human judgement on a goal call that has to be made, sometimes before the clock stops. Examples: a net comes off its mooring, but play isn't immediately stopped; a puck is shot into the net on a delayed penalty. You don't want the goal horn and music to automatically go off to get the crowd all excited (and then angry) on stuff like that. Maybe it's not obvious, but a goal judge's decision considers the situation, sort of.
