  1. Partly my bad. I didn't see the new thread start up. Let's keep it all there.
  2. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 4m Amid reports Ryan Miller/Steve Ott scratched tonite, much speculation BUF is close to trading one or both. STL? Or just asset protection? Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 58s Not saying this is it, but one scenario that has definitely been discussed: 3-way trade involving BUF, STL and OTT. A # of variations. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1m STL would get Miller, OTT would get Chris Stewart, BUF would get prospects from OTT. If Ott (the player) included to STL, 1st rder to BUF. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 47s That scenario I laid out is speculative but has been discussed this week by the teams.
  3. I look forward to stuff like this once I start spawning.
  4. Less than five days until the deadline... THE QUICKENING IS UPON US! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqhHgT4mvRQ
  5. It would be baller to wrap up the trade, tell him that this will be his last game, then start him. Tell the team in the locker room before warmups. Then announce to the crowd at the start of the game that this will be his last game, and let 'em go wild for him. It doesn't make a lot of logistical sense, especially in the injury risk/reward sense. But I don't know of it being done any other time in history in any sport, save for the last game of a season when a player is pretty much assumed to be a UFA.
  6. Big young top six center. Plays a great two way game, puts points on the board. Potentially the next Joe Pavelski.
  7. Using point equivalency, that could equate to 43 points (based on his season) to 62 points (based on his February) over an 82 game NHL season. For reference, MacKinnon's on pace for 62 points this season, and Reinhart's scoring more points per game than he did.
  8. Too loose for my junk, and my junk isn't small.
  9. Eh, and why take just 10 when you can have 20 instead!
  10. You complete me. I like where we are with respect to D prospect depth. And we definitely are lacking in forward depth, especially high-talent, hard-to-find scoring. So unless our hand is forced to take Ekblad (either because he's that good, or he's that much better than what's available to us at selection time), we should definitely be grabbing forwards like plastic hippos grabbing marbles. We should also be closely examining the goalie situation, but forwards should definitely come first in the higher rounds.
  11. DEFEAT! Also: MORAL VICTORY! [it's acceptable for the Tank to win games at home against opponents we hate.] Now let's TANK ON!
  12. Unfortunately, it's for the best, IMO, and that sickens me to say that. But the way, or rather when, they're going to do it isn't right. The newest A-10s are 30 years old, they're increasingly susceptible to modern shoulder-fired SAMs, and they're almost completely out-matched in any air-to-air combat scenario. So they're great for blowing ###### up and cutting armor in half in third world countries that have AKs, RPGs, no air force, and no appreciable air defense systems. Which is why we've loved them over the past 30 years. We need a new generation of aircraft for the CAS role, but due to cost and relative fragility, the F-35B's not going to cut it. So we need a new aircraft program for CAS, which could be expensive to get off the ground. Or drones, which I'm pretty meh about for various reasons. So the A-10 fleet needs to be maintained until that new solution is flight ready. Otherwise, we forfeit a serious CAS capability, which in the current threat environment, is definitely one we shouldn't.
  13. That was actually Patton, whom, albeit ignorantly, did not believe in the existence of battle fatigue and forbade its diagnosis in the Seventh Army. Before he slapped the ###### out of some guys that had it. Then apologized. Then took the Third Army all the way across Europe.
  14. From here: Desert Storm: 4 downed, all by SAMs. 3 captured and released. 1 pilot killed, body was recovered. Iraqi Freedom: 1 downed, by SAM, pilot survived, recovered by friendlies. So from 716 aircraft built, over 42 years of service, only five have been shot down, with only one casualty, and it took missiles to do it- no flak, AA-gun fire, or small arms fire. And three of those missiles, by the way, were the Russian-built mobile platform we're-not-######-around-surface-to-air-missiles.
  15. You're gonna. A team doesn't tank as hard as ours and hope for #2, son. I won't have cowards in my army.
  16. You forgot to acquire Danny Briere. And trade them Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, because he's from QC and because he's the most french-sounding.
  17. It's not a coincidence the A-10s were labeled the Thunderbolt II. The mission is very, very similar. And such a simple design premise. Take the biggest gatling gun that can fly, attach eight Maverick missiles, put tank armor on the bottom of it, give it double-redundant flight systems, design it to fly with one engine, one tail, one elevator, and half a wing missing, and you end up with a nearly-unkillable flying monster that destroys everything it looks at.
  18. Those ######! Just kidding, that's fine. I'm willing to bet the Islanders remain considerably awful next year. We'll get two high draft picks in the first in 2015 which will 1) increase our chance at winning the McDavid lottery and 2) make it easier to trade those picks for the 1st overall if we don't win the lottery and choose to do so.
  19. Maybe Regier felt that way, maybe not. But Regier would probably have been more conservative when talking about specific player trades with the media.
  20. A fine point. Everyone everywhere knows what the record is and what happens when when it's like that. TM also doesn't have the established personal relationships, so any reservation about being completely up front about, "yeah, I'm definitely try to move that guy" may not be as present.
  21. I can't tell yet if TM's smarter than Regier, but he sure isn't dumb. He also seems to be somewhat more transparent, which is probably important when you're trying rebuild. Keeps everyone inside and outside the organization on the same page.
