Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college
pi2000 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
He's simply a prospect at this point. Look, he had a great college season, but it's a huge jump to the NHL for a goaltender. I'm concerned NHL shooters will eat him alive upstairs, so lets pump the breaks just a bit. -
What has caused the most improvement in the team lately?

He was slow to get up after blocking a shot last game, could be a bruised foot/ankle. -

Even tho they're out of the playoff picture, it's nice to actually look forward to watching them play at this time of year for a change. -
Can we win a Cup without a Superstar forward?
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
You need either a couple superstar forwards or a superstar goalie. -
I could see a penalty for a play which attempts to gain an unfair advantage or victimize another player. Who is the victim here? I'd rather my goalie be upset and make himself a spectacle instead of showing apathy. One of my boys, when he was about 13 or 14, smashed his stick across the crossbar in anger, breaking it in two. I made him pay for his own replacement stick and he never did it again. That said, these are pro athletes, maybe you fine them? A penalty? Nah. They're humans, they have emotions, let them express themselves.

Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
pi2000 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I love what he's done with this group this season... but if we're talking playoffs, he'll need to implement a more disciplined defensive system. As far as I can tell, he's not asking much from this group when it comes to defensive responsibility other than to back-check hard. They're playing free and loose, which good to a certain point, but I, for one, don't want these kids developing bad habits when it comes to defending.... especially when trying to hold down leads late in games. Playoff teams have the ability to lock games down once they get a lead... haven't seen anything remotely close from a DG coached team. -
As someone who's played, I have no idea why that should be considered a penalty. It's an emotionally charged sport, let players show emotion and vent their frustration.... especially in this day and age where everyone is hyper-sensitive about mental well-being. Let players play.

Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
pi2000 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
They're still an absolute mess defending in the neutral and d-zones, and until that changes, they won't be making the playoffs any time soon. Can Granato implement a disciplined defensive system when needed? Haven't seen any improvement in that area. Is that because he hasn't emphasized that aspect of the game yet? Or is he just not capable? -
Did Eichel need to fly the coop to let Dahlin spread his wings

DG does 2 things well... Players as individuals are developing. His team doesn't quit. That's great for a young team... but I don't believe he's capable of coaching them to the playoffs. -
I've noticed 2 significant improvements in his game... He's quicker (acceleration and small area speed) and much more physical. Those were two areas he needed to improve to take the next step. That said, he'll need to continue to work on his foot speed, and overall strength, I think there's still a few more levels he could reach.

Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college
pi2000 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Ok, gotcha. He's a hyper-competitive kid, I believe he'd prefer to take the next step and start his pro career. That said, it depends heavily on what KA wants for him as well. -

He's Canadian. I don't believe his childhood dream was to win an NCAA title with Northeastern. -

I don't believe KA will gift Levi any NHL games.. both him and Portillo will need to earn their stripes in Rochester before being called up. It's part of the process now, and it needs to be that way moving forward for things to change. -
Love the energy! Where's the clips of Eichel doing that?

I'm sorry to say his destiny is that of a career AHL'er.... he's just too small. Do bette... er.. bigger.

Is the Ducks logo and color change the worst in the NHL?

according to my source, no. -
Haha... thanks for dumbing it down for me.

Sorry what I meant to say was have 2 defensemen selected #1 OA ever play together on the same team? I can't find any... 🤔

It's refreshing to see them playing some of their best hockey at this time of year. Unusual.
