  1. Wow, big move for Columbus. Traded 4 years of Saad for 2 years of Panarin. Same cap hit, $6M per year. Panarin will probably be too expensive for either Columbus or Chicago to resign in two years, so this is Cbus going for it now while Chicago plays the long game without ever rebuilding.
  2. GMGM even said that Vegas was interested in two players, and Buffalo added the sixth to influence them in Carrier's direction. It was the only trade McPhee commented on tonight. I found it strange that they had him comment on live tv. Glad he did, though!
  3. I also like the Vegas jerseys. Reminds me of the team NA jerseys from the WCOH. I think the charcoal grey (or whatever you wanna call it) is a neat look.
  4. If so, I hope it's alphabetical. I hate waiting through things like that :P
  5. Anybody know what the format of the "reveal" will be? Vegas has to make their picks at 10:00am and they aren't released until 8:00pm, so I'm assuming there will be leaks. But I'm curious how the league will display picks.. as a group, or as a team-by-team reveal...

  7. Well, I returned from my honeymoon two days ago :) We went to the island of Oahu in Hawaii and we had a blast. A bunch of firsts for me- snorkeling on a coral reef, Scuba diving with sea turtles, zip lining down a series of lines over a fruit plantation. Also climbed a mountain or two, and of course spent some time at the beach and in the pools/hot tubs at the resort. Attended a luau one night and boy oh boy was that pork amazing. We ate extremely well all week, in fact. Oh, and we got a couples massage in the sketchiest building imaginable in downtown Honolulu, but it was great.
  8. The four hour, 18 minute version? Just before I have a 5.5 hour drive tonight? The timing couldn't have been scripted any better. I will blame you for any speeding tickets I may accrue.
  9. Has the home run cycle ever been completed? A quick google says only in the minors and college.. maybe someday! My money would NOT have been on a 2B by the name of Scooter
  10. I think Scooter Gennett deserves a shout out in this thread! Last night his ABs looked like: RBI Single Grand Slam 2R HR Solo HR 2R HR Final line of 5-5, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 4 R Oh and coming into the game, he had 3 HR all season.
  11. Charles Barkley visiting the interview and intermission report last night gave me an idea.. it was so refreshing to have someone with a personality as opposed to the pair of pessimistic Flintstones that NBC normally features. The idea that got me exciting was this: what if Subban gets into broadcasting when his playing days are over? He would definitely be a breath of fresh air
  12. Ha! Did Nashville crowd really do the "Murray, Murray, Murray, It's all your fault!" chant after an empty netter? That's hilarious if so.
  13. I'm not afraid Kane won't sign with the Sabres. Okposo was a more prized FA than Kane will be. I think if we made Kane an offer at or above market value, he'd probably sign an extension today. Even if he wants to wait and test the market (which he has every right to do), I think we'd be strong players. I'm more worried that Kane isn't in the Sabres long term plans because we already have a lot of money tied up in wingers, and we need to set aside money for our center spine and defensive improvements. Maybe Botterill doesn't want to invest $6-7M when we already pay Okposo $6, Moulson $5, Ennis $4.6, Foligno $2.5 etc. Then I'd rather move that one last year of Kane for three or four years of a defenseman. Because I think we should take a step forward next year with or without Kane. But we aren't competing for a Cup next year. Three or four years from now, hopefully different story.
  14. I think you're really under rating Muzzin. His offensive output isn't bonafide top pairing, but his transition game is great and his possession stats are elite. Check his wowy with Doughty. He made Drew even better in their time together. I'd hate to lose Kane. I want to see what he can do in a new system with a young center core that is that much better just because of age and development. But I'm very pessimistic about us re-signing him. Maybe I'm just reading too far into the Pit model, but overpaying to keep wingers isn't something I expect from Botterill. No way am I trading Kane for futures. But if we could get a defender of Muzzin's caliber due to a down season and a King's front office desperate to spark some offense and deal from a point of strength, I'm doing it. And because I guess it isn't clear.. I don't hate Jack Eichel just because I am open to moving an impending free agent winger. :P
  15. Personally I wouldn't advocate for moving down.. But Muzzin is the better player. And value-wise, Muzzin beats out Kane easily. He's signed for $4M a year 3 more years, compared to Kanes 1 year at $5.25. I'd love to pick up Muzzin from LA. But if Kane is the piece going the other way, we're adding.
  16. Proposal from twitter: Kane + 8 for Muzzin + 11 Muzzin is signed through 19-20 season at $4M per.
  17. In all seriousness, I know next to nothing about Kempe. Fill me in on why you're high on him!
  18. I knew you'd appreciate that haha. If the + was LA's first rounder, I'd jump at that for sure. But they pick 11th this year. Surprisingly not far behind us. Unsure if they'd part with that AND Forbort after waiting out his development so long.
  19. Forbort strikes me as a Botterill kind of guy.. NCAA player that developed in the A, then stepped into a full time role seamlessly. Wouldn't be surprised or upset if he's involved, but I would want LA to add.
  20. Ironically, this is one of my favorite beers. Although I was recently at a bowling alley in Frenchlick, Indiana and I did order a Bud.
  21. The offside rule is in place to keep players from cherry picking. If the offsides isn't evident to the human eye, then it isn't a substantial enough advantage to be worth reviewing IMO. It's just not what the rule is written for. It's obnoxiously stupid to halt a game and wipe a highlight goal off the board over something that didn't actually impact the outcome of the play. My two cents, anyways. I like the blueline and offsides and having to clear the zone, etc. That's hockey. Scrutinizing a players' toes on an ipad when he didn't even impact the play, that isn't hockey. Goaltender interference, now that's a worthy infraction to review. Get more angles, see if the goalie was really impeded. Those challenged are out of legit belief that your goalie was interfered with. The offside challenge is more like, "oh , we got scored on, let's get off on a technicality."
  22. Malkin's goal should be stopped 10/10 times by an NHL goalie. He wasn't screened and it didn't deflect. Here's a good angle of a bad goal: https://twitter.com/nhlonnbcsports/status/869357575019438080 But Guentzel's goal was just an absolute snipe. Not sure that's on Rinne. He was out challenging. Jake just placed it perfectly in the top corner. https://twitter.com/myregularface/status/869387127359930368
  23. 5 goals on 11 shots... I'm not sure what I just watched
  24. I'm rooting for Nashville, but I won't be upset if Pittsburgh wins. I was rooting for them last year and generally dislike them much less than my other Sabres friends. I said before it started that I don't care who wins, I just want a great display of hockey and a fairly officiated series. So far, the "display of hockey" has been putrid with the overturn and now this own goal. The "fair officiating" has been anything but. But that second goal was beautiful. Can't be upset about that one.
