Exactly. Clean up some bad moves from their past and make some new ones!

Buffalo Sabres 2018-19: What went wrong, how to fix it?
French Collection replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
Confidence can be fragile and that's what was lost after the streak. They didn't have the talent but everything else fell apart too. Lets get a 2C and let Ralph build these guys into a unit that can compete. -
Curtis Lazar Signs One Year 700k Deal with Sabres
French Collection replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Lazar was a good prospect and he captained Canada's U20 team. He hasn't done anything at the NHL level to make us get excited. Hope he works hard and helps out as a depth player. This is probably his last chance. -
Trade:Defenseman Colin Miller to Sabres for Picks
French Collection replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
RHD is a problem for them and Miller played for Dubas in the Soo. They need to sort out their cap issues first and then look for help. Their fans think their money can get them every player available. Throw them a bone, Kadri for a 2nd and a 3rd. Then maybe they can afford Tyler Myers. -
I’ve known guys from the ECHL and they were not good enough to play CHL in their teens. There are some good players there but it’s not like they are developing guys for the AHL. If you don’t make the A after your CHL or NCAA career ends there is a slim chance of getting to the NHL. It is not like baseball where you move up a pro league every year until you reach your peak.

Trade:Defenseman Colin Miller to Sabres for Picks
French Collection replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, kind of like the D from 15 years ago. Having Dahlin on top adds that extra gear. -
I've watched quite a bit of CHL hockey over the years and always thought it was a great feeder league to the professional ranks. Making a 16 year old choose between CHL, NCAA or another league can lead to making a huge decision very early in one's development. A lot of kids in Canada.want to be drafted into Junior and take that route, but if you haven't made an impact by the time you are 18, your ice time and role could be reduced and your confidence can suffer. The USA model of staying in high school hockey will provide way more of a support system to mature another year or two before joining the USHL or NCAA. For the elite guys, the CHL is a great place to showcase your talent for 60+ games. The lifestyle is also more like pro hockey. They accumulate scholarship money but that money dries up if you turn pro or do not use it for 18 months, I believe. I think the CHL still churns out a lot of talent but they burn out a lot of kids too early. I don't know the solution, but local feeder leagues to the CHL could help kids mature and make better decisions. The CHL could be for 18-20 year olds and exceptional talents. Allowing CHL players to be considered amateurs and get NCAA scholarships may also improve the product.

Someone has to break the ice here and begin to use offer sheets as a weapon to improve your team. Sure, there will be p....ed off GMs and vows for revenge, but it is a competition and offer sheets are available. Otherwise, just remove them. Many of those GMs would no longer be in their chairs when they have cap space anyway. It would require smarter use of cap space, bridge deals, ELCs etc...

Your predictions: what is Botterill going to do?
French Collection replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Should have said he wanted to move up to ensure getting Cozens. -
Stastny as a cap dump for Vegas. He is still a good 2C. Sabres may have to give up a prospect.
-
I think he gets a few games, not 9, goes back to Lethbridge to have a great season. He makes the Canadian Junior team and we get to watch how he has progressed. He might stick next season, hopefully gets to 190 lbs.

Jbot Do Something Already Off-season 2019
French Collection replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
With the cap at 81.5 instead of 83 I think there will be some dumping of good players. I read somewhere that Vegas is over the cap now and they haven't signed anyone. The Leafs having to send a first round pick with Marleau shows how desperate teams are to get relief. Preds moved PK to the Devils because they were the only team willing to take the entire salary. -
He played for Roseau high school and I remembered the Broten family was from there. I did a quick search and this town of 2600 people has sent 9 players to the NHL.
-
Yes, University of Minnesota.
-
Family support system is important. I like that.

I watched the Scouching report. Not a "sexy" pick, but definitely a prospect that can really develop at Minnesota. Good edge work, excellent at breaking up plays. Hockey IQ is a question mark. Another guy with NHL pedigree. mynhldraft.com had him at #31. That is go to mock draft. I probably would have taken a forward but I'll the team some slack and follow this kid for a couple of years before forming a decision.
-
I like this kid. May end up on the wing if the centres end up being Eichel, Mitts and Asplund.
-
Lupul like.
-
I would like to see Stastny as a 2C for two years. He did a good job in Winnipeg and Vegas in that role. He would be off the books for Dahlin's new contract, and Mitts could move up to 2C.
-
Miller's value just went up.
-
Only a handful of teams would get star players in a no draft, full free agency league.
-
Almost $3M a year more than Couturier. They really wanted Hayes. Couturier contract is not up for a while but he would be worth $9M AAV in that comparison.
-
It would be a gutsy pick at 7, but you never know. Like JBot, he is Canadian going the NCAA route. I think Cozens or Zegras is the safer pick, but I think Newhook's upside could be higher than those guys and Boldy, Dach and Podkolzin. I hope someone takes Caufield before 7 so I don't have to be p****ed off if the Sabres take him and he busts or if they pass and he becomes Debrincat/Gionta.
-
Like I said, good for him. Pro sports does put a spotlight on people's lives. My employer and the employee union screwed up many lives by hiring hundreds of people from a small geographical area to staff 60+ work centres spread out up to 20 hours away from the hiring location. Everyone wants to return near home but the jobs are all in the "boonies". Hiring "corruption" has set company back and morale is at all time low.

I get mixed messages from his statement. I respect the fact that he views his future wife's career as just as important as his. Is he deflecting some of the blame onto her? Maybe not intentionally. Does she want to be in New York for a specific hospital, school or just likes the bright lights. Her family in NYC? His career has 5-10 years left, hers can last 30+. There needs to be a balance. He just wanted out of Winnipeg last time, why NYR only now? If it was New York or nothing as the Penguins article suggests, what about the Isles, Devils or Flyers. Good for him, just hurts small market teams even more. Lindros is still reviled for his choices in junior and the NHL.
