I'm thinking Winnipeg because they lost Trouba and Myers from their RHD ranks. I can see Ehlers and Roslovic coming back for Risto + prospect or pick. Doesn't solve our 2C problem but he would have another speedy winger and a potential 3C.

I am excited to get this guy. I remember seeing him in the WJC, he was a key player for Finland. As some have stated, he played half a season in the NHL as a 19 year old, that means he's got game. Good luck to Alex, I think he'll make it with Chicago but he doesn't seem to bring enough desire to have a lot of impact. Can't wait to see Dahlin and Jokiharju lead the charge. JBot, get us a 2C now, you have some currency.

I think it's a good pickup. He's a top 9 forward who can play C. Johansson, Vesey and Miller won't lead the Sabres to the promised land but they upgrade the talent level and provide depth. There are now too many NHLers for this lineup, bodies will be moved for more upgrades. Even if they move some guys for picks, that is currency for a potential upgrade. The cap for this season is starting to worry me, maybe Bogo will fall on the sword and go LTIR after his return and next injury. Sobotka needs to be sent down, which may make him go to Europe.

Get a few seeds, sunshine, water and combined with a dump , something good can grow.

I believe Sweden has a lifetime loss of license for a DUI. I'd call Risto the Flying Finn but a few guys already have taken that moniker. Matti Nykanen, ski jumper was the first I believe.

I haven't gone to Cap friendly to confirm but I read on Sportsnet that Dubas' Cap Wizardry left them with $9.5M for Marner. They are a Leafblower network, but Wizardry seemed like a strong word when they gave up Marleau and a 1st for some relief.

Roslovic and Ehlers for a Risto + package could work. If Roslovic can't handle 2C then we are back to Mitts. I think Little would be a solid 2C for a year and then drop to 3C for a year or two. He may be easier to get because of that contract.

There may still be a way to get Stastny from Vegas, a cap relief for them. He has two years left on his contract and is a true #2C. Winnipeg has a need for D, the Sabres have a surplus. I wonder if a guy like Roslovic could be a 2C. He has played some wing becuase he is stuck at centre behind Scheifele, Little and Lowry. He is only one year older than Mitts and a few more NHL games. Jets are also in cap trouble so Bryan Little could be pried out for them to sign Laine and Connor. Little has 4 years left at $5M plus. They may be ready to let Roslovic be a cheaper option for their 2C position.

I wish he played C, but talent is required and they could move a package out for a 2C.

There were not many contracts handed out today that would have made sense for the Sabres. They need a 2C and they will probably have to get him in a trade. Something good will shake loose from another team that overspent.

Similar numbers to Connor Sheary, hopefully Vesey can win a puck battle or stay upright during a battle. I think he helps, a bit. JBot is not done, he's gotta know 2C is the priority and has a few irons in the fire after Cap insanity day.

TSN said he turned down a 2 year offer from the Isles. Probably saw that as a slap in the face.
