  1. Two Africans and a Spaniard are on the team.
  2. Increases the slim chance that Turcotte could be there at 7.
  3. Could Gostisbehere shake loose for a buy low deal?
  4. The more I read about Dach the more I want someone else to take him. The comparisons to Getzlaf are flattering but his skating is not the greatest. The Blues Cup win may get the copycat teams returning to LAK heavy hockey. Tim Murray would be proud. Dach has the size but does not sound overly physical. He may be high on a few boards.
  5. I would love to be in that room listening to 18 scouts pitch their players to the GM, AGM and head scout. Jankowski's background is interesting with the Euro connection. He would have a good understanding of comparing accomplishments in different leagues.
  6. I agree. I hope he gets more than 3-4 games though, I would think 8-10 would be a fair assessment. He needs to be in the top 9 to show what he can do, plus some PP time. He better work his butt off and not rely on some "entitlement" due to his draft and pedigree.
  7. Vanvleet was clutch, making the 3 pointers that Danny Green was supposed to make. His D on Curry was good too.
  8. Dahlin gets to 65 because of personal growth, improved PP and more ice time.
  9. I'm excited for the draft, one of my favourite times of the year. Everyone is full of hope, the players want to be selected, teams want to get their guys, fans hope for the next star and families hope for a good fit for their kids. Can't wait! Turcotte, Cozens, Zegras or Boldy.
  10. Fabbro, selected 17th may end up having a nice career. Just turned pro with Nashville at year's end.
  11. Went to Canada's Wondeland the other day and tried out the new ride- Yukon Striker. This would be a cool nickname for our pick at #7 Dylan Cozens.
  12. Only if they buy him out and you can get him on a prove it deal. He wants to retire to London, where he played junior. https://lfpress.com/sports/hockey/corey-perrys-ducks-dynasty-could-soon-end-with-trade-or-buyout-report
  13. A 2C is important for JBot to procure this off season. Even if it is an older guy that can become 3C when Mitts is ready. I liked Asplund when he played in the WJHC and when TM drafted him. His offense seemed to pick up in the second half. I think he could be 3-4C by next season. JBot may have to keep prospects down longer due to the Seattle draft.
  14. Podkolzin's ceiling could be 3-5 in this draft but I would not take him at 7. Turcotte is my wish but I think his profile has been raised to top 5. Cozens, with Zegras a close second are who I am liking now.
  15. He is an all star and they would not have been able to replace his production with another UFA. They could have gone hard after Karlsson, who did score 40 in the past and is a centre, but that would have been a long shot. Work your a$$ off Jeff!
  16. Sabres don't have a second rounder
  17. If a guy like Byram is available at 7 and JBot takes Broberg then there is a definite bias. Why bother scouting the CHL. I think he highly values the extra two years of development and keeping maximum flexibility with his 50 contracts. I am a CHL guy but it is tough enough to project the future of 18 year olds that buying extra time is great. The later rounds even more so.
  18. Bobby's parents made similar drives all winter long when he was 14 and playing in the OHL.
  19. Close to my thoughts. I like Zegras more than Dach.
  20. Bobby's brother owns and operates Orr's fine meats and Deli near the water. They make great sandwiches and have an all day breakfast that will sustain you on whatever adventure you choose.
  21. Winnipeg did draft him with the Sabres pick from the Kane trade.
  22. Should the Sabres look at Brett Leason with their second pick? He's been passed over two previous drafts so he is more mature and perhaps NHL ready. He is 6'4 200. Skating was his Achiles heel but he has improved a lot and has gone from undrafted x2 to a first rounder. RW where there is a need. If cut he could go directly to Rochester because of his age. I am intrigued.
  23. His last job was comparable to President of Hockey Operations. Let's hope one of his strengths is assembling a team that fills the gaps of his needs and weaknesses. He should trust these people and delegate accordingly. I hope he is successful as a coach, hires his eventual successor and moves upstairs once a winning culture is established.
  24. I was reading some stuff from Friedman that Derrick Brassard May not get a lot of interest or offers with term. He is working out and has something to prove. He could be a 2C option if healthy and motivated. Sign him to a prove it deal.
  25. I’d take a chance on him if the price is right. Watching him at the WJHC he was as good as linemates Laine and Aho. He just has not developed.
