  1. As an old Nords fan I'm immune to the negative mindset. I'm also familiar with failure. These guys can play. They just need to homogenize a bit. You can feel it too, eh?
  2. This team has a few weak links but overall they will be contenders. Next year they make it IMO.
  3. Gorges looks like he's made of puddin'.
  4. Ray's audio sounds like he's on his phone out in the parking lot.
  5. Bailey wants it. Good to see Alex get some points. Were his assists primary or secondary? Either way it's good.
  6. So....The force awakens Luke Shywalker then? Seems to fit the my impression of where Disney is taking the new universe. Luke has lost hope in regenerating the order so he's gone into self imposed exile to search for the truth about the force and his meeting with Rey reawakens his hope. From all of the rumors I've read, that's how this movie goes down. It's mostly about how bad ass Luke really is and will continue to be. I don't think Disney has any reason to kill their bread and butter character off.
  7. This upper falls from the bridge deck which is about 300' above the Genesee River. This next one is me between 200' and 250'. This is also me. I'm directly over the river so I'm at 280'. We pulled a piece of the bridge deck out and I had to squeeze in and swing my feet like batman to grab a column so I could climb down.
  8. Bump I'm digging this bugger up and dusting it off. I've been on a project in Kodak park looking at drab industrial so I've been looking at photos from a project I did last summer to remember something nice. These pics are from a perspective that few get to see so I decided to share. I did repairs on the old train trestle at Portageville in Letchworth Park that is being replaced. Steel erection is under way(with our guys). This is from a restricted area south of the bridge above upper falls. It's a shame it will be gone by 2018.
  9. He gave the puck away multiple times last night. I mean flat out gave it away with an ill advised pass to a crowd of opposition in front of their net. He also lost the puck several times on the boards. He has gotten worse as the season goes on. After he gave it away the third time he coasted back into the zone with his head low. No sense of urgency to correct what he'd done. He gets no time on the PP. Doesn't look like a guy that's good to go but I've only seen the kid play 20 times or so in person so what the hell do I know?
  10. So Linus has lost the minions helmet for a new one. Looked very generic and with the plain black and white pads and gear it seems he's saying "please f'n trade me..."
  11. Biggest crowd I've seen in a long time.
  12. Anyone watching tonight on msg? Bailey with some serious wheels and a shot on the rebound to end the first.
  13. You're going for the game? Sure. Why not? I'm sure you're not going a rue ste Catherine. That's not why peeps go to Montreal. Nope....Just messing around, man. It's a great place. I grew up an hour from the city. My paternal family is only a few generations removed from family in pte aux tremble. Emilie Tavernier Gamelin(founder of the Sisters of Providence) is the sibling of a direct ancestor. There's a statue of her in one of the metro stations. I won't say which one or give either one of you guys any advice on where to go. That place is so rich that you lose out if you don't find it your own way. The people ARE very friendly....I haven't been to a game since the Forum so I'm of no more use. I would say "have fun" but I know you will.
  14. 6:30 am just before work- 2 plain eggos and 8 oz protein shake. 9:30 am break- chicken breast and provolone with 1 tsp mayo on whole grain white, 6 leaves romaine, 3/4 cup strawberries and 8 oz OJ. 12:00 pm lunch- 2 chix legs, 1 cup kraft mac n cheese, 1/2 cup corn and 8 oz OJ. 3:30 snack before class- 8 oz protein shake, 3/4 cup strawberries and 1 beer. Yes I drink a beer before I teach. 8:30 pm dinner- 2 cups Spanish rice(with homegrown tomatoes), 1 cup peas and 4 beers. 9:00 pm- beers. Quantity to be determined.
  15. I saw a young guy still learning. Several times in the PP he stood still with the puck(a few folks were criticizing him for it) and suckered in the defenders. One time he drew three in and dished it off to the now wide open spot. Very smart. He knows what kind of space he can create and like you say, at 23 the rest of the league is going to regret taking the penalty when they see Jack come over the boards.
  16. I had so much fun listening to yesterday's game that I thought I'd tune into a Montreal station to have a listen. My French has gotten so rusty that I had a very hard time following the game. Very sad day for me:( I eventually switched to the tv and saw a pretty good win against a good team. Winning makes me feel like a winner.
  17. We listened to the game with the wgr app on the drive up North. Sounded like it looked pretty good. Maybe with McCabe out Murray will be forced to make a move. Forgot how much I like to listen to hockey.
  18. You don't notice them at first. Lots of awesome going on with this.
  19. I honestly believe in developing a player. I understand the rush to have immediate return from an investment. That's the ultimate scenario. I'll refer to Carrier as my example. It seems no one regarded him as a legitimate prospect. How many years did he stew in the A? We could all agree that he has become an asset? Why rush a guy? IMO Sam should have had that time as well.
  20. I'm not suggesting that he's ruined or anything like that. I'm just wondering how much you can learn about playing the boards when you're upside down. Maybe "phenomenal" is a little strong of an adjective in regards to his potential? I feel he has a decent chance of being a good NHL player one day. Down the road a bit.
  21. Fck cancer. Mom isn't doing very well so we're making the 5+ hour drive up there this weekend. If I could ever get my hands on cancer I'd kick its dirty ass and show it what a little bitch that it really is. Can't stand to hear her feeble and in tears. Wish I was close so I could oversee everything but I have to rely on my brothers and their kids. They're doing a horrible job. If I wasn't tapped out from the month+ unpaid leave and paying for a funeral, I'd hire a private nurse to look after her. I'm working OT and eating bologna trying to recoup the financial set back. Today would have been Dad's b-day and the guy running the job I'm on is a giant douche that I want to punch right in the face. When I get this frustrated I end up punching myself in the face because GD it, someone needs to get punched!
  22. He probably should have played in the juniors this year. He gets man handled quite a bit. On open ice he is creative and makes good plays but gets abused on the boards every single time. I worry some nights that he's going to be seriously injured.
  23. I wouldn't mind a whiffle ball for the 3v3 OT.
  24. I'm such a Melon head that I feel I must share the story of Wooh as told by Shannon's mother. Apparently Shannon stole Wooh from the pet store in the mall. He said it was because the store owner wasn't taking good care of the dog. As time went on Wooh fell ill and needed surgery. Well Wooh didn't survive and Shannon was "so GD mad that he could not see..." and threw a brick through the vet's front window. Then he wrote the song. The studio version is the best IMO. I've pined over the lyric "I wonder if you're feeling anything at all, in you're new world....."
