  1. As of 10/27/21, both Tommy and Dick Smothers are both still alive. I find that amazing for some reason. Tom is 84, Dick is 82. I would have thought they were both north of 90 or pushing up daisies. Learn something new every day.
  2. Based on the last 10 years or so this would be cathartic after every goal, and if the team needs a rest just play the whole thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUvxRjYqjEQ
  3. Interesting that old 'friend' Cal Peterson got a 3 year deal for only $1M less per year than Dahlin on the same day. Things would feel different if he were on the Sabres right now. Although that assumes the organization wouldn't have screwed him up by now.
  4. They have to rent "Rich Stadium" from the owner, Erie County. The Bills have a lease to play football games there. Who knows if travel between the US and Canada will be normalized for fans by then. This could be the only opportunity Canadian Sabres fans have to see the team live. Lucky for them, it's only one game unlike American fans that could have to see them 40 times...
  5. My next three months: Lynyrd Skynyrd with Kansas at CMAC Dead & Co at Darien King Crimson at CMAC Darius Rucker at CMAC Gov't Mule and Trombone Shorty in Rochester Almost Queen at State Theater Ithaca Robert Cray at Babeville Tedeschi Trucks Band at Beacon in NYC
  6. I've been going to some concerts where I am only somewhat familiar with the artists and left them both as a more dedicated fan, seeking out more of their stuff. This is the first time I have ever done this. Anyway, in the past week I checked out Blackberry Smoke at one show and Brandi Carlisle at another. Quite different musically but I am enjoying both of them on Spotify. Both are true artists, dedicated to their craft and excellent live. The audiences were also quite different I might add. Lots of Rednecks and Lesbians, but not on the same night. I am neither, but both were great crowds. BBS opening act was the Allman Betts Band. I am a massive Allman Brothers Band fan but I can only say "eh" to their progeny. Seem like nice guys, gave it a good go. The opening act for Brandi was Rickie Lee Jones, from back in the day. My God she was bad.
  7. In other words, he has some offensive Prow-ess
  8. Interesting. So you think GMKA should sign another LD or two?
  9. This past season was the first time in my life I didn't watch a single Sabres game from beginning to end. Often I couldn't find the motivation to spend my time on such a poor team. The times when tried they stunk the joint up so bad I couldn't hang around for the whole thing. Seeing what's happened this past week, culminating with the apparent decision to yet again not address the most important position in hockey, I think I may have a hard time even following this team at all. I can't tell if we are seeing an intentionally devastating tank, grotesque incompetency, or simply a franchise so down on it's luck it's essentially viewed as a minor league team. It may sound melodramatic, but as a fan I really can't take it anymore.
  10. Allen carried the Bills on his back for the Colts game.
  11. I'm glad we are getting deeply into this set of rules. As a Sabres fan it's very important to understand the mechanics of the draft lottery. That's our playoffs.
  12. Once in who‘s lifetime? A June bug?
  13. This is likely. However we can hope he is only 3 years slower than Tom Barrasso and wins the Calder and Vezina at age 21 in the 2022-2023 season. 🙂
  14. I'll go for Nashville. Calle Jarnkrok, 28, F at $2M. Middle 6 guy with expiring contract could net more assets at the deadline or play a role if they are Vegas competitive.
  15. How the hell did I get to 51 years of age and only now stumble onto Funkadelic? My 24 year old turned me on to it!
  16. The Sting is also on the list for best soundtrack.
  17. I'm conjecturing, just like you are.
  18. I think it's even money as to whether Seattle chooses Skinner or not, perhaps with some sweetener from Buffalo. The personal connection between Francis and Skinner cannot be underestimated. Francis may look at Skinner and see the former 40 goal scorer who just needs to be unleashed and he has plenty of cap room to accommodate him, to say the least. Sabres fans keep seeing Skinner under Krueger and suffer from recency bias.
  19. All the Usual Suspects
  20. Him? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Hextall
  21. So basically if Ullmark doesn't get hurt and England fares better in the War of 1812 and Buffalo ends up as part of Canada, and we're a playoff team? Awesome.
  22. Playing CMAC this summer. Tix on sale today.
  23. All-time: Two that are no longer in existence Len Berg's in downtown Macon, GA. Only open for lunch. Orders were by letter, with A-D being the daily protein options and E onward being sides. Desserts ordered separately. Pure southern food heaven. I'd get a C-G-L a B-E-H, etc. Then I'd go for peach cobbler or macaroon pie. One floor, made up of separate rooms each with a simple theme. Bourbon Street in the Roppongi district in Tokyo. A cajun food gem run by an Indian guy from Singapore who learned to cook in Lake Charles, LA. He'd greet every guest and became friends with repeat customers. Food was incredible - legit New Orleans cuisine with Japanese level quality and service. Current: Simply Crepes in Canandaigua. Still exploring the menu but after half a dozen visits we haven't found any duds. Nice atmosphere and solid service. Gems include the grilled brussel sprouts side with carmelized bacon and onions, drizzled with maple vinaigrette and topped with feta. French chicken crepe is delicious. Haven't found anything bad yet. Pro tip for two: Order a sweet crepe and a protein based dish and then split them. Best of both worlds.
