My guess is he feels a bad season could get JBOT fired, and then he loses his job too, so he's rolling with known quantities who feel 'safer'. The unjust firing in Edmonton left scars. Player development will occur in Rochester, not Buffalo. The good side of this is Tage playing 1st line minutes in Rochester instead of 9 minutes per night and the press box in Buffalo. The downside is Dahlin at 18 minutes per night.

I agree with this, but Tage Thompson certainly experienced otherwise... Personally I am hoping for Risto trade for Sobotka 2nd line replacement (through in ERod or Lazar if needed), move Montour into his spot at 21 minutes per game and give the other three minutes to Dahlin to get him to 21+ per game. Gilmour and call-ups for depth.

I'm not really disagreeing with you, I think. We're into semantics here. The team clearly appears to be a fundamentally better team than last year. They never looked so good for a 6 game stretch, even during the streak. My definition of 'unsustainable' may be too dry and analytical to be of any actual use in conversation. That may be the real issue....

Yes, roughly half the league should end up with a PDO higher than 1. My point is simply that even if they regress to a season long and potentially league leading PDO of say 1.035, that means they roll the next 76 games at something like a PDO of 1.033 (I didn't do the math) which is clearly quite a bit lower than 1.067. Maybe that will happen. It would be awesome. But it still validates that a PDO of 1.067 and 11 out of every 12 possible points isn't really sustainable. I am very happy with how the team is playing. Not a naysayer. I'm smokin' whatever Ralph is dealin'.

They look a lot better this year for sure. However PDO is 1067 which is #1 in the league and will regress. Powerplay won't click at 43% forever either. Also if they kept this up they'd end up with 150 points which I don't think will happen. I am OK if they end up with 115-120 ?

He’s on a pace for 10 goals this year. He’s a massive disappointment thus far. Its justifiable to be frustrated when he misses a grade A chance on the road vs Boston when Eichel is out. I guess it’s not unexpected.
