  1. What a great finish by Bona tonight. I thought for sure they threw the game away with 20 seconds left, but they pulled it out. Very entertaining.
  2. My thought was, lanes that were open in that unstructured era would not be open at all today. I suspect that 140 points wouldn't happen in today's NHL. I'm thinking 120 is about where he would have topped out if he was in his prime in '16-17.
  3. I've had a couple of the Wiser's brands. Can't remember which ones they were. I recall them being decent pours. Not spectacular, but decent.
  4. The biggest change in hockey since Gretzky’s heyday is the widespread use of structured defensive systems and play. Wayne’s greatest asset was his creativity on the fly. Would he be as effective today with the team systems in place now? I don’t know. Would he be an elite player? No doubt in my mind. But I don’t know if he’d break all the previous records in this era of structure and defense. I do think Wayne would still be the most talented player in the league, and that bigger goalie pads would reduce his scoring, but he’s still got the talent to be a scoring leader in a league with huge goalie pads.
  5. Given the season, I wouldn't be surprised if it was ice and that it would work just fine if he used it tonight.
  6. Right. What I said. What the hell? It was my theory first!
  7. Partially plugged orifice in the burner. Go ahead. Take a swing. it's a softball pitch.
  8. I don’t know if irony is the correct label, but we are having an active shooter training session this afternoon at work. It was scheduled before yesterday’s tragedy. Society has changed and we aren’t responding to it beyond organized sessions telling people where to hide.
  9. I hope so. I’m tired of waiting for the next draft class to arrive for hockey to be fun again.
  10. Stop the world. I want off. I try not to be the guy that sees different generations as actually different, but something had changed in out society over my lifetime. And the change se ms to have affected all generations. I am truly concerned about the future of out society.
  11. I agree with your thoughts re: Sam, and the 3rd line being a focus for improvement. It is why I wish we would have re-signed Gionta. But I’ll also add that they will need to focus on replacing Kane’s production every bit as much as they need to focus on the 3rd line. And that won’t be easy to do.
  12. So did I. I think LTS needs some romance tonight.
  13. I’m not fond of ranch houses, but after seeing grandparents and now parents dealing with stairs in their elderly years, my next house will be a ranch.
  14. LTS, see my previous post. Small, family owned company. Owner that didn’t trust his employees. Switched to stand up desks with an announcement that he expected increased productivity. In my work experience, this was not the norm. But it’s out there in the workplace.
  15. I can’t rule this out until the team is actually in the hunt in February and still playing well.
  16. Lets see what happens down the stretch when there is more urgency for the teams jockeying for playoff standings. We are in the doldrums of the season for most teams.
  17. Can't remember what it was that I read regarding Borgen. It was discussed at length here. There was a strong hint that FA status was in his plan.
  18. I've worked for employers that got stand up desks for their people because they expected greater productivity as a result, and were very up front about that reasoning, so I agree with what you are insinuating. But I also know plenty of people that asked for them because they preferred to stand instead of being in a chair all day. If I weren't in a low cubicle office I'd like to try one out.
  19. You're likely correct that they want Sam to continue to work at RW, but Phil wants this squad winning. If Phil thought Sam gives us a better shot at winning form center ice, there is no doubt in my mind that is where he'd be in the lineup tonight.
  20. How is Will Borgen not in that snippet? I can't see him signing here.
  21. I guess even my Patrick Sharp comparison isn’t apropriate. He’s simply a RW I guess and needs to be factored in as such from now on. I agree Erod is not a full time NHLer. And that says alot about the center depth we thought we had.
  22. Pi was using the word lazy for lack of a better word. He was trying to describe a lack of readiness of position and posture.
  23. I'm not sure whether I miss JJ's "goals on a Tuesday in months with less than 6 letters" description of advanced stats because it was entertaining in its ignorance, or glad to not have the noise.
