  1. I think that's been disproved as Morgan Freeman, but a great sentiment nonetheless.
  2. Soccer has a way-lower entry cost than hockey, especially in non-cold areas. Sneakers and a ball. Plus, the stadiums are often bigger and the tickets are cheap.
  3. I'd be 100% shocked if your cable company isn't selling the stats on what everyone is watching via their digital cable box.
  4. I'm guessing it's more about the individual than a particular cultrue. Some people love being thrown into something completely different, some people want to do the same thing every day of their lives.
  5. Sly Fox's is solid too, but be warned the spices are pretty forward.
  6. They were less nuts before the copyright on Steamboat Willie was about to expire.
  7. It got so bad when I had cable that I'd have NASCAR Friday practice on during the day since it was the best option.
  8. Philly Eagles whiners. "Boo hoo, we haven't gone to the playoffs in *2* years and haven't won a game in *4*! And going to the conference championship 4 times in a row is the worst thing that could happen to a team!".
  9. While I don't necessarily disagree with you, I suspect this falls into the category that many men reserve for computers, cars, and the ######: you know it's there, you know you should know more about it, but as long as everything is humming along OK you ignore it. :) EDIT: ###### rhymes with Delores. ;)
  10. Spilled most of a bottle of green tea on my kitchen floor on the way out the door to work this morning.
  11. It was being talked about on various twitter and radio shows. FWIW: http://www.thehockey...ting-break.html I think that was part of the hope last week. That was the last reasonable time that they could squeeze a 61-game season in and still get the full sponser money. Now, they've all but lost that money so there's no particular rush before they start getting to the limit of a 41-game season.
  12. With the new cancellations, I'm thinking any games played this year is 50/50 at best. I believe a lot of sponsorship money was tied into a 60-game season which isn't going to happen, so there's less incentive for the owners to play at this point. It's just math.
  13. How close are the Sabres to the contract limit (it's 50, right?)? I don't follow the AHL at all, is it normal for teams' fans to complain about the parent club or is this part of the weird inferiority/superiority complex Rochesterians have with Buffalo?
  14. 1: the republicans are States' rights unless they're in charge of the Federal government. Same as the Democrats and any other group.
  15. I just bought a Subaru Outback (used) for future-wifey. I may have made a mistake though, she drove my WRX for a few days while I was getting the paperwork sorted out and she liked it too much.
  16. If you were a couple counties over (near Nunda), I'd wonder if it was the guy that did the same for me a couple weeks ago. 74 in a 55, which was honestly a surprise. I had the cruise set to 68 and told him that (as well as saying I wasn't arguing with him, just surprised). He came back and said, "Since you were honest with me, etc. etc.."
  17. You mean "how's my hockey hair, eh?", right? :) Also, does anyone know if it's pronounced Pommin-stine or Pommin-steen over there? ;)
  18. Not really, it's not about moral judgements or anything. I guess I can see where you're reading that into it, but it wasn't really intended. It just seems like those with money find a way around things that the average Joe doesn't. Could I hire a tax pro and deduct things like depreciation of my assets (cars, applicances, computers, etc.)? Maybe, but the writeoff probably won't cover the cost of someone doing my books. My tax rate, according to http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxtopics/2012candidatestaxreturns.cfm, is right in the middle of Romney and Obama. I'd be kinda fine with that if Romney didn't just spend 4 months (at least) whining about how much he pays, when he pays a smaller percentage than I do. Mitt, you're luckiler than most people will ever be, and you're leading a great life. Act like it. Stop saying that you "need" more. Looks like Biden needs a new accountant. :)
  19. Leaving the insults behind, It seems really difficult to justify taxing people below the poverty line. The more you tax them, the more they're going to rely on government services, which is counter productive. How about this system, since we're spitballing here: no taxes on the first, say, $30k each person makes. Then a flat tax on any income above that (probably around 15%). That seems to make a whole lot more sense. You could play with the number or whether to do person or household if you like. The problem with any flat tax system is the rich folks will still find a way around it. I remember an episode of "Cheers" in which Sam bets Robin a weeks salary over something. Sam wins, but Robin only pays himself $1/yr so Sam only won $.02. Presumably, Robin's company pays for his life style.
  20. Or maybe that's the most important issue to them?
  21. Not really, tax brackets don't work that way. In DeLuca's system (assuming it works like the current system), you wouldn't be taxed on that first $100k, just whatever you make over that. So at $150k, you'd be taxed at whatever the current rate is on $50k (150k - 100k). If you make $300k, you'd be taxed nothing on the first 100k, current rate on $150k (250k-100k), then 30% on the remaining $50k (300k-250k). That's one of the things that gets me about the tax cut for the rich stuff. If you give a tax cut to the poor and middle class, you're also cutting taxes on the rich as well. What's the problem?
  22. Exactly. Based on other posts and pics she's put up, she's "in the know" from the seems of it. Is it so hard to believe that people in the FO might have her number and text her things they hear? And that she can't name those people without getting them in trouble. Until Ms Chz sends us info that's just wildly wrong, she gets the benefit of the doubt. Use your power wisely. :)
  23. Unless Adam has had a major attitude change, he has no business on a 4th line, or even in the bottom 6.
  24. that might be a bit over the top, just have to go in and change the settings to stop that behavior.
