I wish he would go a little further than just saying "several teams have declined to raise prices". Each year when we get these annual complaints, I feel like we never get to see a true breakdown of what everyone else is doing. How many is "several"? 2? 12?

Bouncyball's scheduling drives me mad. There is no way that they should be starting the conference finals on one side while the previous round is still underway in the other conference. How do they ever get things to sync up in that league?

Here's how slow it is at this time of the year. My first thought while reading that was that we need to convince Reinhart to wear a higher number.

You and PA taking off at the same time? Christmas just came early!

I heard some talk the other day about the popularity of his number and it got me thinking. Baseball has to be the sport where I'm least aware of players' numbers. They have never really been a prominent feature of the game when televised.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation

He needs to clear waivers to go to the minors. If Buffalo is high on him, you'd have to think that's at least one team that would claim him to stick around as their backup. And the thing about being "stuck" with bad contracts is that teams may incentivize you to take those deals off their hands. -
It's all about perspective. He's also the 3rd GM in 20 years. :D

I missed this last week. They will not patch if the nail is too close to the sidewall. The fourth picture here is where I have been getting these nails almost each time. Fortunately, the most recent one was in a spot that could be patched. I was also lucky that I bought the new one at Costco and they give you hazard coverage with any new tires, so the patch was free (new tire would have been too if I needed one). I don't want to call it lucky since it was another nail in a tire and a big time loss, but only one of my tires was from there and covered... the one that got the nail. Oh, and I was wrong last week, it was actually 9 days between nails. It was also my fifth in just over a year.

Why do we always assume that the new coach has to come from the new GMs tree? That assumption blew up in our face last time.

He definitely oversold that one. NS's link pretty much sums up the reason for the fine, that it was automatic for being his second offense.

I hope they fix that quickly. I can never see how the sharing thing can work out well for anyone other than a team wanting to save some dollars. There's so much that gets in the way of development when you're mixing prospects from different organizations. I hope they wind up being shared with an organization with a polar opposite system in place. That'll convince everyone to correct this quickly. -
Did they give any more details? This one sounds like a broken glass table or something.

The wife and I did one of those once. I'm not sure which picture was worse. We did whatever the hell we wanted instead of following their lead.
-
See, I think he should do his version of whatever mural she comes up with. It'll be a nice contrast of styles.

For whatever reason, I picture d4rk painting a stick figure version of one of Josie's previous Sabre pictures on the side of your house.

Assuming they get him signed, what do they do to move on from the Lehtonen/Niemi two-headed monster? Each has a year left on their contracts so can they actually find a trade partner or do they wind up buying out either of them?

Is there anything written into the rules that stops a team from reclaiming a drafting player if they wind up on waivers in October? I don't believe for a second that Ullmark will be claimed, but I'll use him as an example. If Vegas picks him, but then waives him to send him down to the minors in October, can Buffalo just claim him back? They're going to be picking 30 players, so some wind up traded or waived shortly after. Speaking of the minors, do they have an affiliate yet? -
We really need to get back to the playoffs. I can't take this tournament seriously when it has revolving door rosters and takes place at the same time as the world's greatest sports tournament.

If there's anything I hate more than power rankings, it's power rankings months before the start of training camp. I guess they give people something to talk about this year, but once things get started, the only power ranking that matters is the one where the Bills finish 7-9 each year.

Don't take this as a defense, but I can't help but laugh at the logic in that writers take on the drafting of Hodgson. Using the tenth pick to take the worst guy in the top ten. Isn't that how it's supposed to work? He couldn't have drafted those better earlier guys because they were already gone.
-
I wouldn't go that far. He had the chance to work on the defense but he instead focused more on the offense. Whether or not that's worthy of a firing is another story all together. To say that if given the chance, he would have succeeded is a bit of a stretch. I think it's perfectly reasonable to question his evaluation of the position given that the guys he has actually added to the position haven't worked out so well. He may have been able to fix it, but personally I'm doubtful on that. But at this point, we'll never know.

No, the only thing other GMs are going to do in that situation is to immediately call Joe Sakic.
-
And they're both BU, so clearly it's a done deal

Ten days ago I had to replace an 8 month old tire because of a nail. This morning? Nail in the same tire.
