  1. I'm with you, at least when it comes to the scripted chants. So many people look at that and see passion. Many times, I just see robots or sheep. I'm not necessarily saying that's the case in Nashville, but I've definitely seen it many times, particularly in college arenas.
  2. I'm no Gionta fan, but it seems a bit strong to say that he was passed over for years in Jersey. There wasn't exactly a leadership vacuum while he was there. Jamie Langenbrunner was there for most of Gionta's run with the Devils, right up until the end. Then they had Elias the whole time who also had the C at stages. Mix in overlapping time with Stevens, Niedermayer, Holik, Rafalski, and even Brodeur and It's definitely not something that was ever lacking on that team. The one thing that unfortunately I can't seem to find without digging way too deeply in google is if and how long he had an A with the Devils.
  3. They absolutely need someone who makes an impact today if they move him. That wouldn't be a case of Botterill being had. The only way I move him for a non-immediate impact is if it gets down to the trade deadline.
  4. Yeah, that much I know. I meant beyond that.
  5. Have they ever said anything about Colin Wilson? I tune in fairly sporadically, but it kills me that I didn't get my BU matchup that I wanted.
  6. I think you could have added a few more.
  7. And why was Daniel not DQed for the kick to the face?
  8. It's not a pride thing but one that always stuck out from when I was young. My town split their little league up into three age group. In my first year in the middle age group, I didn't play too much because I had a coach who played people strictly by age. Anyway, we're in the last inning of the championship game, down 20-19 and I'm actually in the lineup. We had chipped away at the lead to get it to that point, the bases were loaded, two outs, and I was on deck. The kid in front of me struck out swinging on a pitch over his head. :wallbash: So I never got the chance to see what would have happened if I got to the plate with the game in my hands. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that was the same year as another 20-19 game with a much worse ending. That's why I still remember that score today. Please tell me you crane kicked them.
  9. Does anyone know when AMC makes the episodes available online? We had a big storm last night and my directv lost signal a few times. I don't even want to bother with watching my DVRed episode since I'm sure there will be a couple time skips in it.
  10. If you want to fit in well on a hockey board, be sure to throw the letter "u" into a few words where it doesn't actually belong. Actually, you guys over there probably use the extra "u" too, don't you? In that case, you should fit right in.
  11. The answer to each of these is the same. It depends on the return from the deal. I hate the cliche that anyone can be traded, but there's definitely something to it. Of all of the guys mentioned so far around here, the only one I would actively shop is Kane. I'd much rather keep him around, but if you have the idea that he might not want to re-sign, you should definitely be talking to see what you can get. As for the others (Lehner/Reinhart), I'm not initiating the calls, but I'm certainly listening if someone comes calling.
  12. Actually, it appears that Whiskey is back.
  13. Do you know what that goal differential was if you remove all of the power play goals that weren't factored into the plus minus? I'd imagine they come fairly close to balancing out, but I don't know how balanced their special teams were. Also, does that differential factor in the freebie goal credited for shoot out wins? I can never seem to find a straight answer as to whether or not that is included in the official NHL team GF/GA stats.
  14. I can't imagine seeing any more of the present day world than what we have already. At most, you wind up with a final scene where Jimmy (have they told us what his Cinnabun name is?) kills himself due to the boredom/depression. So you get sort of a rise and fall feel to the whole series, just like Walter White. I'm sure they'll come up with something more creative than suicide, but there's going to need to be something to take it a bit further than just working there.
  15. You also expect to get Doughty in return straight up.
  16. The NFL route is to sit out one year then re-enter. The NHL rule is to sit out two years then re-enter (CHL) or sit out four years then become a free agent (NCAA). I fail to see how the NFL route is somehow tougher on the player.
  17. So you're questioning his decision to leave? That's fine. The discussion was originally about questioning the rule allowing him to become a free agent. So that explains my confusion, completely different topic.
  18. He was drafted in 2013, four years ago. Miller and St. Louis were drafted under previous CBAs and different rules applied to them. I'm not completely sure what point you are trying to make with them. St. Louis went undrafted and signed as a free agent.at the age of 22 (or 21 depending on the calendar date). Petersen is the same age. Ryan Miller decided to sign with Buffalo 3 years after being drafted. He did not have the option of leaving at that point.
  19. Or they went to RIT
  20. I was actually thinking the other day about who has the most appropriate avatar. There really is no contest here.
  21. To paraphrase a show you used to quote all the time: have you met marvelo?
  22. Petersen has waited FOUR years.
  23. To the team that just traded for and signed Ben Bishop?
  24. Every single person on the face of the earth is no longer eligible for the NHL draft once they reach the age of 21. What you're suggesting is a punishment to college players, forcing them to go back into the draft while other people their age are free agents. Yes, CHL players do have to re-enter the draft after 2 years. But if they remain unsigned after the four years, they are in the same exact boat as the college player, an unrestricted free agent. If anything, the college kid already has his options limited and now you are suggesting further limiting those. It will never fly and is completely unfair to the player. What we are complaining about here is such a rarity. Sure we've seen more guys go this route recently (a collectively bargained route, by the way), but for every one of them, there are probably at least 15 college guys who do sign with the team who drafted them. Obviously I'm pulling that number out of my ass, but I hope the point is clear, so many more go the more traditional route. If a player of Eichel's status wants to go that route and throw away at least $15 million in salary and countless other dollars made from endorsements, more power to him.
  25. You're 30 days away from being able to shop around a bit and really figure out what you think would be the best fit. Maybe that best fit does wind up being the team that drafted you*, but there's only one way to find out. You'd be crazy not to take advantage of that. *I'm not holding my breath on that one.
