Yes, FLA has no state income tax. What are the homeowners insurance rates? The insurance rates are extremely reasonable in WNY. @LGR4GM, swear this kid hadn't read past @Gatorman0519's post before repyling.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department

Yes, just 2 in 11 years, but also 2 in 3 (or is it 4?) years. -

They're usually quite good, so I take these numbers seriously. But the Docker one surprises me. He's coming off an $800K deal and has one full NHL season in 5 years pro. Both the term and the AAV seem high given his track record.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Interesting quote in there. He has won just 2 playoff series in 11 years. Now, that is 2 more than anyone on the Sabres has won, but not sure if that’s the type of team we want him to build here. -
It literally worked to get players. Do y'all just get amnesia about the ufas we sign?

Plus Florida has insane home insurance costs and players pay income tax based on where the game occurs so its not that much better. On top of that housing is cheaper in Buffalo and public schools are better. Really depends what you want. These guys are not freaking out over 500k less bucks

Defenders of interest, who could bolster the defense
JohnC replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I do like Byram a lot. However, he's an asset that can be dealt and used to better round out the unit. I would be very receptive for a Byram to the Rangers for K'Andre Miller. Would this trade be an equal value deal from a talent standpoint? No. Byram is the more talented player, in my opinion. However, acquiring this big, rugged defenseman would better round out the unit. And as you point out with Bernard Decker and I noted with Samuelsson, most often there is a time lag for players to become good defenseman. It's a tough position to play. My same reasoning applies to the Power critique. Be more patient and the talent will be more actuated. -
It's a proven reality. Remember when a lot of us thought players would want to play with McDavid or Eichel - and we needed a star? TP put money into the organization and we started hosting the combined etc. It didn't work to get players. TP has tried plenty conceivable things to create a spark. It hasn't worked. Buffalo is a place that critically relies on drafting talent and trading. Then hoping the draft picks develop and some of them and any traded players grow to like the City. That also hasn't worked.

I was looking at the AFP Projections on Cap Wages. McLeod 3x4.8M Quinn 1x1.6M Peterka 7x7.8M or 2x4.6M Byram 5x7.2M or 1 x5.2M Docker 3x2.5M I rounded the numbers off.

Here is the yardbarker senstional headline. Trolling us a bit which is something they like to do. https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/young_buffalo_sabres_star_officially_requests_trade/s1_17636_42231579 What I really get from the Hamilton quote is Byram is not planning to sign here long term. At this point I don't see why anyone would. Byram could still be back on a shorter term deal if nothing else materializes in terms of solid trade or offer sheet.

It will also be interesting to see how Bernard Decker works out. Another guy that had high hopes placed on him but then he ended up traded to us. Maybe he is at the right age where he turns into a good steady d-man. -
Hockey Heaven? what the Sabres are competing with
Gatorman0519 replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
True to an extent, but I don't think we can completely dismiss it. The city you live in has a lot to do with it. Plus, Florida has no state income tax which saves a ton of money. -
Why would Buffalo have golf cart parking? Players don't become ufas until 26, if Buffalo were winning, ppl would come here. This is just a distraction.

All we need is our own Bill Zito for a GM and we'll be set. -

Taro T replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Reminder - the Bandits will go for their 3rd straight title at 4:30PM today on ESPN2 taking on the Saskatchewan Rush in a winner takes all game in Banditland. Let's GO BAN-DITS!!!!!!!!! (And immediately preceding that on ESPN2 will be the 6th ranked Syracuse Orangemen taking in the #2 ranked Maryland Twerps for the right to face the top ranked Cornell Big Red in the national lax championship game. Go 'Cuse!!!!) -
The more telling indicator is the number of players who have Buffalo on their no trade clauses. Pro players are competitive by nature. A franchise that can’t qualify to make the playoffs in nearly a generation certainly makes this location less appealing for many players if given a choice. It need not be that way because this location does have many attractive assets.

Where did the report come from?

Unless you’ve been hanging out with Doc Brown, I’m sure you understand how something that happens 5/14-5/23 can’t possibly influence a decision made prior to those dates. Hell, you could have said that they were successful in disrupting his routine and then actually be onto something. I said he was a hot goaltender prior to 5/14, it’s not exactly rocket science.

mjd1001 replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
Watch the video, read the article. How 'nice' the practice facilities are, how much room, how many things (lounges, golf cart parking etc) are not NEEDED for a good hockey team, but it certainly can be something a 20-something year old millionaire might prefer when making a decision where to sign.
