Athletic fan poll: front-office confidence rankings
Flashsabre replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
They have worked long and hard for those rankings. Thank God everyone on staff got another year.🤢 -
I like him too but I think they want a lot. I'd suspect if it involved top prospects they'd want Helenius plus. I like the idea of trading Byram but that would leave the D very thin again. I think the D even now falls apart really quickly with any sort of injury issues.

That's my thought too. It's long overdue but encouraging all the same. You need to set that tone in your AHL team first imo if you want to build that forward into the NHL team. Most of these guys will never play in the NHL (or just limited action) but you want to have the work ethic and presence start there. You also want to win down there so that the guys coming up will bring that with them too. Also, most of these grittier AHL guys know they have to work hard for a shot and so they help build the culture.
-
Game experience is the most important part. Sure maybe an older player can pick things up faster and adjust quicker but without NHL game experience, this isn't going to work. We are less experienced this year compared to last. That alone doesn't matter, but we are just inexperienced overall.

Beating a dead horse, but "practice repititon" is the concern. Haven't been to a team practice since Krueger made TC a closed door affair. Have been to over well over 100 games since that time and have watched several 100 in that time frame. With that stated, if you do dumb things in practice, you'll do dumb things in games. They do dumb things in games and the people running practices are the same ones that ran them in the past. So, so, so truly wanted at least Wilford, Appert, and Ellis relieved of all duties.

I bring this up because Nazar had 12g and 26pts in 53games this past season, his first, at 21yrs old.

They did at times, but he was a winger in the playoffs and I believe more often during the season

I was in the same boat with corporate life, and I was one of the exec's. I did not want to stain a good career so I moved on. Sounds like you are doing the right preparations.

He pours water over his face like that every single day. So I ask him why he’s waterboarding himself. This time, he called his shot.

OT:Golisano donating $50M to what will become Golisano Children's Hospital.
JohnC replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not sure if you are talking about Pegula or Golisano with the payroll cuts. When Golisano took over the Sabres in a bankruptcy setting the franchise was basically insolvent. The previous owner and his son ended up in jail due to intermingling the franchise money with his own money. The financial fraud was at such an egregious level that the feds got involved in an investigation that led to convictions and jail time. Let's not forget the context of the situation. Golisano took over an insolvent franchise and put it on a strict budget and required strict accounting recording. The chaotic financial books were relatively quickly straightened out by him. Did some staff have to be let go? Yes, he was dealing with a financial carcass where there was a negative cash flow. To his credit, he financially stabilized the franchise. And to his credit, he paid contractors that were stiffed by the previous owner and weren't required to be paid due to the bankruptcy rules. When asked why he paid the contractors when not legally obligated to do so: he simply said that it was the right thing to do. From a Sabre franchise historical perspective, I consider him to be a hero. Let's not forget what one of the primary reasons why Botterill was fired by Pegula. It was due to firing staff in the scouting department. Botterill refused to do so and was subsequently fired. (This is what I was originally referring to in my post on this topic.) https://www.nhlpa.com/news/2-22673/sabres-fire-gm-botterill-in-series-of-cost-cutting-moves -
The language that seems to be more and more common in public: -About a month ago, my wife and I were out to eat a quick-service mexican place (kinda like Chipotle but a local one). We sat in a booth, and right next to us 4 guys (probably 30-40 years old) sat down. No problem, no issue. I think they worked together...maybe security, maybe corrections, maybe even law enforcement. Again, no problem..yet. Then they started talking...one guy, its seemed like every single adjective and adverb was replaced by a version of f**k. When he talked it was something like..." It was f****n strange. I got out of my f*****n truck and I went him and the f*****n door wasn't locked so I f*****n pulled out my f*****n phone to call my wife, and she said everything was f****n OK she was just in the f*****n backyard." The guy wasn't mad, wasn't angry, but that is just how he talked, about everything. Now earlier this week it was a little cooler so we were out to eat again, this time we sat outside at a place on picnic tables, and the people next to us, probably a group of 5 or 6 poeple...mix of men and women probably 25-35 years old...and a different guy from above is talking the same way. Not angry, not talking about an emotional topic...just that is how he talked. And we are right outside on the sidewalk, there are families and little kids going by occasionally, but this is just how he talked. I'm noticing it more and more often in recent years. I guess we can complain about things about everyone, but this just seems....out of place and happening more and more often.

Here is a more in depth talk about unlimited objectives

If you have some kind of spotlight that you can put on outside. When it gets dark turn off all lights inside open the doors and put light on outside. I would stay in the room and watch for the bat to find it's way out then close the door. The outside light draws the bugs and the bat will go after them. Good luck.

NLL News: Albany Firewolves moving to Oshawa

These teams move like people change underwear...it's pretty crazy. -
I'm slowly coming to the realization the only way this invasion will end is if we commit troops on the ground over there. If it comes to that I hope it's a NATO effort.

Yeah, that makes sense. It also makes sense that the Russians would do it, or even fake that they are doing it and still post it. It's psychological warfare. I already don't like Putin and his actions.. this isn't changing anything for me though. It's exactly the kind of actions I would expect. Why are you calling out Hank here? That's unnecessary. If Hank wants to comment, then Hank will comment when they want. Stop going after other users.

Why does your 3 year old even know what that is? You letting him hang out on YouTube or something? 🙂

Sabres Announce a 10 year extension for the naming rights of Key Bank Center
LTS replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Yep. But people want to go on about it as a metaphor for the franchise. The franchise is bad enough. Reality is almost any location suffered a pipe burst like this there would be significant damage that occurred. -
Not that close but think about it every day I deal with corporate BS. Yeah.. shop I go to talked about how Tesla drivers are shocked how fast their tires go. --- So, waiting to find out but I was able to get my van from Schenectady back to Rochester (helpful hint: do NOT use the well advertised and rated brokers online). I went through hell with that and ended up calling a local place (Allstar Hauling, West Henrietta.. 10/10 would use again, but hopefully never need to). So, the van arrived Tuesday night. The local dealer looks at the car for 2 hours and diagnoses that the backup camera is shorted out and causing the electrical system to have issues. Waiting to see if this gets fixed and solves the problem. If that turns out to be the issue then the dealer in Schenectady was basically trying to pull one over on me and then perpetuate it into fraud by claiming it was the main wiring harness that was chewed on by rodents. Of course they never had the vehicle ready to be inspected by insurance so after the 5th trip out there my insurance company told me to tow it to Rochester. Waiting to see.. it's apparently a thing as I began searching the Internet. I'm not 100% convinced.. but man.. 6 weeks later finally having some progress is a nice thing.. but 6 damn weeks they held my car hostage...

I base 4yrs on my projection of where my retirement savings will be, when I clear my debt, and how long I will be paying for 100% of my health insurance. I haven’t done a detailed study but Ive made some estimates of what my budget will look like. I will probably do a trial run of living at that budget for a year or two first before pulling the trigger. I do plan to do something part time at first. I have an idea or two in mind. I have grown quite weary of corporate life and have to actively fight the urge to say “Im done” these days.

You need to go back and look at the list of names that were purged from the organization during the switch. Video scouting itself wasn't the issue. It was simply an excuse used to cut payroll. He had the right guys for the job and he got rid of them. -
I thought they did play Helenius at center last year
