Injury update, Sept 26, 2025: Samuelsson minor injury
JohnC replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
If you are referring to Power and Samuelsson, neither one of them were claimed to be physical presences. Their games were never predicated on ruggedness and physicality. It's just the opposite. Their games were always described in terms associated with skating and puck movement. The type of players that many want these big fellows to be will never materialize because it's not who they are as players now and will ever be. In the spectrum scale with physicality on one end and finesse on the other end, the marker will lean more towards finesse. -

I think Mrtka should be in Rochester over Seattle. I can't see what good sending him back to Juniors is. I always keep in mind young AHL players can often come up and give you 10 good games, then day in day out NHL game wears them down. It's hard to be consistently good. -
Lecyshyn, Kozak, Dunn, and Geertsen all have to clear waivers so it would be normal to drop them at the last minute as all the other teams are trying to do the same thing. Less chance of a claim. I think Östlund was just in line for another game. Only claim I worry about is Kozak.
-
Glad they are to this stage. Curious to see how they run the last 2 preseason games. I'd assume give Mrtka more action. I hope they waive Bryson, he's not been good this preseason in comparison to Novikov, Johnson, or Jones.
-
Why would they pull the goalie in a tie game? They deserved to lose.😂

Five years should be sufficient to finish the stadium, win a Super Bowl, and use the afterglow to ask for $600M of public funding in a massive arena renovation in the KBC structure. The Sabres can play at.... Penn St., an outdoor home game in Boston, etc., for the season while KBC in its biggest construction throes.

It blows my mind that he still has an A on his jersey? captains don't need to be skill players, but I expect these guys to lead with their effort on the ice and I've never seen it from Mule. - Today

Seems like he has been good on faceoffs, from what I saw

I feel like Muel and Greenway are guys they could’ve moved on from. They could’ve let Johnson and Jones battle it out for 3rd LD and a fourth line combination of Beck/Geertsen Krebs/Kozak. Dunne would suit Lindy’s needs. Would save the team about $7 million to use elsewhere. -

Do people understand that with the cap going through the ***** roof a $10 million per deal will be like a $6 million (or less) deal is today within a few seasons?

Bad evening over in Belfast for the Clan. Despite Langan scoring early on the 2nd to open the scoring, they found themselves on the wrong end of of a 3-2 defeat: which included the empty netter. It’s not looking good for recent finnish goaltender signing Aittokallio - who was replace by UK netminder Lucas Brine after the second period. Aittokallio has looked very shaky in his starts so far. in contrast Tristan Langan has been lights out fantastic. 9 points in 6 games. We may see bigger teams come in for him during the season if he keeps it up. Quick turnaround needed as both teams will take the short hop back to Glasgow for the second match of this back2back. Both these matches are challenge cup games, not league.

I understand the sentiment, and I also understand why nobody would want another rebuild, but you can't get anywhere building something unsustainable either can you? If you end up with a bunch of big contracts and you are still not winning what do you do? The only logical thing is get rid of those contracts and try again. They've done it so many times and for so long that the idea does not inspire the type of hope it does in other rebuild franchises but what else can you do? If your "core" can't get you into the playoffs your "core" isn't what you need.
-
Don't think it truly matters; this franchise cannot afford to have a re-re-rebuild. At this point they just need to make the playoffs and keep their core happy enough to get there. If you have to give him 8 years 10mil per then do it; its a bad contract for sure but keeps the food on the table, so to speak.

I don't ever remember Kassian being referred to as hard to play against. Dropping the gloves doesn't equate to that. Samuelsson was simply over hyped because of size and name recognition. Will Borgen is actually better than him, and Will is mediocre. The failure to assess their talent properly is a Sabres thing. -
Oh no, that's why I said the re-rebuild. You trade him you have to tear it ALL down and you have to start with a new GM and a new ethos. It's a bind like I said, but we will never get anywhere if we overspend on a mediocre team. It'll crash when Benson etc. want to be paid.

10 with term is a BAD idea.

Personally, expect he'll pass him on the depth chart (if he hasn't already) but that unless they have 2 injuries on D they'd rather have him in Ra-cha-cha playing so expect he'll go down rather than Bryson if they keep 8 up on the big roster. He is still waiver exempt to be sent down. So, unless they're on an extended road trip doubt he's up if he isn't in the top 6. But interestingly Puckpedia has him listed as being an Amerk right now. Pretty sure that's incorrect as they're also showing Östlund and Georgiev as Amerks already too.

Kulich has an injury that was supposed to just be a day or 2 thing IIHC.
